"Minecraft" has just released its official sustainability report today. However, it seems like the report transformed into something much more as the "Minecraft" developer known as Mojang had suddenly decided to turn it into something a little more, interactive.

'Minecraft': Education Edition

Mojang created something called the "Sustainable City" which is a new "Minecraft" map that is now available as a particularly free download over in the "Minecraft" Marketplace, according to an article by News.Xbox. The map has also reportedly been added to the game's very own educational offshoot.

The article noted that Sustainable City is actually a map that is now available on the "Minecraft" Marketplace's very own "Education Collection" as well as in the "Minecraft": Education Edition where the said educators can now download the six different lessons all designed to give its students a better sense of what is happening to the planet. The map is a very educational but also very entertaining way of showcasing the report made by Microsoft.

The map focused on the following:

  • Sustainable Food Production

Which explored certain sustainable practices for every single step of food production by simply visiting a grocery store, a farm, a waste factory, and also a recycling plant.

  • Outflow Order

This part focused on teaching water outflow as well as the treatment in order to understand just how biosolids would contribute to the fertilizer as well as how treated water would then make its way back to the houses.

  • Wasted to Wanted

Players will be able to check out a "Minecraft" landfill and even learn which of those materials are recyclable as well as what happens to those materials that can't be reused.

  • Dependable Forests

This educational part better explains the social, economic, as well as environmental impacts of ideal responsible forestry.

  • Sustainable Home

Visit a certain home that is supposedly built along with sustainable materials in order to learn just how to live life more energy-efficiently.

  • Alternative Energy

This part would take players on a trip to a particular hydropower plant in order to learn more about the power lines and the wind power through the use of turbines.

According to the story reported by The Verge, this educational part of "Minecraft" has reportedly been around ever since 2016 but has only become popular as of late due to the increase of remote learning. As of the moment, "Minecraft" says that over 35 million students and different educators are now licensed in order to use the platform.
