Reusable sanitizer IOON, the first device that turns water into an antiseptic in a second, launches its first batch.

Its Kickstarter batch's official launch opened last Apr. 1, with each IOON sanitizer starting at $79. IOON ushers a new age of sanitizing, perfect for the new normal following the global coronavirus pandemic. It uses silver particles to eliminate bacteria and coronaviruses in a solution that contains no alcohol, foam, or even scent - making it safe for children, people with allergies, and even pets.

People interested in the new, innovative, and sustainable sanitizer can make a pre-order from the IOON Official Website.

The new sanitizer is a small, handheld device made up of four main components: a spray, the body which holds the tap water to be converted into antiseptic, the replaceable cartridge that creates the sanitizer, and the battery and circuits that make the process possible.

Additionally, its product page presents a simplified rundown of its cost-efficiency over the following two years. The IOON sanitizer is an environmentally friendly alternative instead of the disposable press down dispensers of conventional sanitizers. According to IOON, an initial cost of $120 for the entire set is equivalent to three liters of sanitizer use, with every succeeding three liters afterward only costing $30. The device is reusable, with the consumable cartridge capable of replacing 60 regular plastic sanitizers. On the other hand, at an average cost of $96.90 per three liters of the conventional sanitizer, plus the plastic wastes that come with it, IOON makes an argument on the topics of user returns on investment and environmental footprint.

On its "technology page," IOON enumerates three key facts about the efficacy of the new reusable sanitizer. Developers of the sanitizer have subjected the product to different tests to ensure its safety in terms of external application - such as on human skin. It includes over 300 tests done from 2018 to 2020 by the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Mechnikov Institute of Microbiology and Immunology, and other independent institutions. A 2019 toxicology test conducted on the product shows that the reusable sanitizer created by IOON has "no toxic effect with skin application," with the use of the product safe from local-irritant effects, acute and subacute toxicity, and death.

About IOON

The company of the same name, which creates the reusable sanitizer, is a tech startup based in Ukraine and is divided into two main groups: the Kharkiv science team and the Kyiv product team. With their revolutionary sanitizer being the result of two years of hard work, the IOON team traces its origins back to 2018, when company CEO Andrew Manilov - who has studied electrochemistry for nine years - gathered the team would soon form the backbone of the company.

With their new product, the IOON reusable sanitizer was recognized as the Top 3 Product of the Day on Product Hunt, a website that curates the latest tech products, both software, and hardware, on the hunt dated December 29, 2020. It has also received a Golden Kitty Award from the tech website, joining the ranks of Apple, Sony PlayStation, and Super Mario products.
