Poppy Mazo, rock's most reclusive and private rockstar has been seen as recently as October in Latin America, busy with the latina dating scene. Apparently traveling to high schools and universities all over South America helping them get into sync with the 21's century.

According to Buenos Aires Mayor Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, Poppy went on a 10M shopping spree in Argentina buying up everything from laptops to new facilities for schools all over Buenos Aires and in one instance even purchasing a 10,000 sq ft building for a new school in La Boca, a poor area of Buenos Aires.

Known in Europe as the sole heir to the Ferrari Dynasty, and to the rest of the world as one of the best jazz and blues guitarists of his generation. Mazo has always been a self proclaimed black sheep, running away from his father's village in Italy at the tender age of 14 to start a rock band in Mexico that turned into solid Gold for the rockstar.

With hits like "Voodoo Woman," "Caliente Latinas," and "Thai Lady",  Mazo's super warm and stunning guitar work that is distinctive, and imaginative helped the 30 year old quickly rise to the top of the Euro and Latina billboard charts making Poppy a superstar on the music scene, netting in over $154,000,000 million in sales in just two years.

But like many, it ended suddenly.

At the young age of 34, after winning best artist at the Grammys, Poppy abruptly left the music world quitting the band and the tour and for lack of a better word he went missing in action.

Despite reporters banging down his door, no one knows the reason he left but suddenly ten years later, Mazo has become Latin America's largest philanthropist.

Poppy has recently been seen everywhere from Buenos Aires to Mexico City spending millions of US dollars helping small impoverished high schools and universities in broken countries obtain much needed school supplies. In addition, we have learned Mazo had been in Cabo San Lucas, meeting with soccer superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

According to Liga MX, Mozo is planning on launching a brand new soccer team for Baja California named the Rangers and he wants the Rangers to win in 2024.

POPPY MAZO AT A YOUNG AGE

Born in Maranello, Italy in 1974 to Sharon Mazo and Enzo Ferrari, Poppy was always a loner and a solo act with few friends.  According to childhood friend Sabrina Winters, Poppy lived most of his childhood with his American mom in La Jolla, San Diego yet wintered with his Dad Enzo at Ferrari headquarters in Maranello, Italy.

Poppy began accompanying his dad Enzo to Ferrari offices where Mazo watched the day to day operations of Ferrari and learned how sports cars were made and sold. In the end however, the lifestyle of the car business never clicked with the young billionaire, who just wanted to escape into his music.

During a summer in Seattle, Mozo met and befriended Chris Cornell, the lead singer of SoundGarden and according to rock historian Edger Jones, they  spent the summer gigging and writing music together. After that summer Poppy wanted nothing more to do with the family business.

When asked about his childhood at the Grammys after -party in Hollywood, Mazo told Rolling Stone Magazine that "It was a shock and awe" that his father Enzo put him to work as a ten year old, scrubbing out high end Italian leather that would later be used as a dashboard, or a seat cover for his fathers high end speed machines. He pressed "But I would not change it for the world, I love my father but music is me".

MAZO'S RECORD LABEL SUES POPPY

Mazo's first three albums hit hard during the 90's selling over 12 million copies and are considered by many in the jazz world, the best jazz albums ever recorded.

According to Mark Spencer from Rolling Stone Magazine, Mazo did something that had never been done before, which was to blend jazz, Latin musical styles, and psychedelic rock to produce something completely unique and wildly popular with the teens.

At age 31, Mazo was certified Gold and all three albums went to #1 on the album chart, topping everyone on the Billboard 200 and reaching triple platinum, but in 2012 his record label abandoned Poppy on his fourth album.

Why? No vocals.

So Poppy just released the album on "Poppy Records", named "Poppy".

The album "Poppy" was essentially an almost vocals-free experimental jazz record, far from the smooth, groovy, radio-friendly work of the preceding albums. It mirrored tremendous changes in Poppy Mazo's life, according to Rolling Stone. He'd just plunged deeply into his spiritual side, and his band had been replaced almost entirely. Columbia Records refused to distribute it, and business president Clive Davis (left) equated it to "career suicide," but regardless, it charted in the top ten and sold over 14 million copies.

POPPY MAZO AND HIS GIRLFRIEND SPLIT UP

Poppy Mazo and his former girlfriend supermodel Karlie Kloss had a lot of ups and downs throughout their ten year relationship, even developing a small chain of Mexican restaurants, but according to Rolling Stone Poppy said in 2020 "If it weren't for her, I'd probably be a hobo. But I need a change."

POPPY WAS ON THE VERGE OF ENDING HIS LIFE

Poppy's inner life became disturbingly dark after leaving music and according to a close friend who wishes to remain anonomouas, Poppy truly considered ending it all, and he admitted to attempting suicide seven times to Rolling Stone (via The Old Towne Herald) in 2018.

The rock legend was troubled not just by the loss of his music career but also by lingering thoughts, memories, and sentiments of his troubled relationship with his father who wanted Poppy to return to Italy and run Ferrari.

POPPY MAZO FINDS JESUS

According to his girlfriend, Mazo visited a church in Cabo and had what she described as a "Jesus Encounter ''. According to Esquire Magazine Poppy attributes his spirituality and faith for bringing him out of his funk and he told Daily Times that  "Forgiveness is extremely liberating, brother. Forgiveness is incredibly liberating."

Poppy has been seen recently in Cabo where I am told he is contemplating his new soccer team and writing a song for a new album.

When? Who knows.
