A sheriff's office in Florida is found to have an embarrassing typo on its official rug. With letters that read "In Dog We Trust," the rug is then sent back to the manufacturer for replacement.

The words are supposed to read "In God We Trust" which is the official motto of Florida. It was also adopted as the U.S.' national motto in 1956.

The forest green rug, which was placed at the entrance to the sheriff's office in Pinellas County, is said to have a price of $500. Apart from the motto, it also bears the sheriff's yellow badge. It had been in the entrance area for a few months before a deputy had spotted the error. The rug was eventually removed from the entrance on Jan. 14, 2015.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said that his office is looking at auctioning the rug for charity.

Reports say that the bidding began on Jan. 15, online and shall go on until 4 p.m. on Jan. 21. The sheriff's office explained that it is pursuing with the bidding because it will not "sweep anything under the rug."

Interestingly, the error seemed to have an appeal among others who have offered to buy the rug for themselves.

"I'd buy or donate to a charity to get one," said one user in the Facebook page of the office.

"I'm a great dog person and really find that a rug like that would be wonderful for my dogs to have for beds," said another individual.

Though the office's lobby had two rugs, only one of them had the typo. Currently, the Sheriff's Office is working hand in hand with American Floor Mats, the rugs' manufacturer, to have the rug replaced.

The Sheriff's Office will donate 100 percent of the bid to Canine Estates Incorporated which is a local animal rescue house. Located in Palm Harbor, the 501c3 animal adoption and sanctuary facility has vowed to save the lives of dogs from high kill shelters which had suffered from abandonment, injury and abuse. The facility offers services such as vaccination, rehabilitation, spaying and neutering. They also seek new and loving homes for the animals.

The on-line bidding of the rug can be accessed through the official Facebook and Twitter accounts of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Interested bidders can visit either www.PCSOweb.com or https://www.onlineauction.com/auction/2076173.
