With the competition for EVs becoming harder to dominate, Porche is rolling out a massive investment of half a billion Euros or about $565,380,000 into a new facility that is expected to help them produce more Taycans and other electric Porches alike.

The Power of the Current Generation Porche 718 Boxter and Cayman

According to the story by CNet, there remains no doubt regarding the Porche 718 Boxter and Cayman's current generation models being excellent sports cars. The company, however, is always trying to push for new limits.

As per a report by Automotive News' German branch, the company is already investing a lot of money into the facility that is expected to help them transition into EV production ahead of initial plans that Porsche will be switching towards "full battery electric power for both models."

Porche to Invest Half a Billion Euros Into EV Construction

The amount that the company wants to commit into this new move is a whopping half a billion euros or about $565,380,000. To add, the company already had heavy investments in EV construction when it initially built the Taycan factory.

The new investment helps the company go a step further and is also the main representation of real progress when it comes to the brand's very own goal of being able to have a third of its total sales come directly from EVs by the year 2025.

Porche's Ultimate Goal for EV Adoption

The ultimate plan is to have two-thirds of its sales come from EVs by the end of the year 2030. In addition, the company is expected to start production of electric replacements for its 718 starting 2023 which means that the debut of Porche's Boxter and Cayman could come some time before the end of 2022.

The publication also notes that they expect an upcoming next-gen Macan to be electric and debut next year. For those that are huge fans of EVs, 2023 is expected to be a good year for those looking forward to Porche's next big move.

Hopes for the Company's EV Transition

The article by CNet notes that for buyers that are looking forward to the upcoming electric 911, they should "better settle in for a long wait" due to the likeliness of Porsche not messing around with what is considered its "most iconic model.

This is, as CNet notes, until everything else within its lineup has transitioned towards electric. In addition, this means that Porche will also be developing its very own lines in order for them to build "internal combustion models" along with electric models.

This means that "hopefully the eventual full transition to electric power" will happen gracefully and prove to be "unproblematic." As of the moment, fans of the Porche 911 will have to wait for more company updates.
