Apple Watch Series 7 users are reportedly experiencing slow charging on their devices following the watchOS 8.5 update.

On Wednesday, Mar. 30, XDA Developers discovered a forum where several smartwatch users were complaining about the slow charging capability of their device after they updated their software to the latest watchOS 8.5 version.

Over Reddit, one user said that his smartwatch appeared to be working normally the night before he updated the watchOS. At that time, his wearable gadget reached 40% in just 15 minutes and 90% in another 15 minutes.

When he updated his device to the latest version, he noticed a drastic change in the charging rate. It took him about 30 minutes to get a 40% charge.

In another comment on the same platform, one person wrote that he's experiencing the same issue with his Series 7. When his smartwatch is plugged in, he observes that the charge is being drained. However, he found out that fast charging works if you plug it in to an Apple device such as Mac or iPad.

Type of Chargers Dictate Fast-Charging

The original poster wrote that his Apple Watch 7 had stopped fast charging after the watchOS 8.5 update in another Apple forum. Specifically, he was using a Belkin BoostCharge PRO when the issue occurred.

In response to this concern, a community specialist with the codename Miche11le_P suggested solutions that might help in charging faster. She recommended the users use an alternate charger if the following problem persists.

Additionally, the expert urged the user to use a charging cable shipped inside a box with the Apple Watch. This will be applicable if you utilize a third-party charging stand.

You also need to seek help if you see a notification that the charging does not support your Apple Watch.

In this case, you need to guarantee that your Apple Magnetic Charging Cable is properly plugged into the power outlet. Moreover, you also need to entirely remove any plastic wrap from the sides of the charger.

It's also noteworthy to mention that your Apple Watch and magnetic charger should be clean at all times. The magnets of the chargers should be aligned to the Apple Watch.

If you correctly do this, you should probably see a green lightning bolt icon on display. In some cases, if your smartwatch will not charge, you need to do "force restart" by pressing and holding the side button and the Digital Crown. Wait for a few seconds until an Apple logo appears.
