YouTube Shorts Tries to Compete with TikTok and Instagram Reels by Coming to PC and Tablet Users

According to the story by News18, the equivalent of TikTok and Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, is now coming soon to PC and tablets in an attempt to make it more available to users. Since its release, YouTube Shorts has initially been limited to mobile devices.

Despite a large number of YouTube Shorts users on smartphones, the company is now trying to target all other platforms, including PC and Tablet. With the availability of Shorts on PC and tablets, users will be able to view the short-form content on almost all platforms available.

Shorts is Coming to Other Platforms Bringing Its Content to New Extents

As per News18, YouTube will most likely be releasing its Shorts to other platforms soon. As of press time, the #shorts can be found on YouTube with different short-form content available for viewing online.

Making Shorts available to more users will be an interesting move, and as per the publication, this could mean that some users can finally watch the short-form content on either desktops or tablets. Instead of watching the short-form content on smartphones, users will now be provided an option to watch Shorts on a bigger screen.

YouTube Shorts to be More Compatible with 10-inch and 13-inch Screens

When it comes to the design, Shorts has mostly been working more focused on smartphones. When it comes to the interface, YouTube will make Shorts more compatible for 10-inch and 13-inch screens on the tablet.

Shorts could be coming out with its own dedicated tab, which would allow users to access Shorts directly and customize the results based on their preferences. No details have been revealed regarding where the "Shorts" tab will be located on the website.

YouTube is Coming Out with New Editing Feature Called 'Cut'

The new feature won't be limited to just Shorts since the company is expected to bring new tools for users to add their own clips easily. The new editing feature is going to be called "Cut."

YouTube's new Cut feature is said to become more similar to the currently available Stitch on TikTok. For now, the Cut feature will be made available to iOS users, and later on, YouTube will be making this feature more readily available for Android users.

With TikTok being restricted in certain countries, YouTube is trying to compete with its Shorts along with Instagram Reels. Since short-form content has started to see a significant increase, YouTube is trying to put more focus on its own Shorts content.
