Takara Tomy's smart speaker relies on deepfake technology to mimic how a parent reads a bedtime story to his/her children.

Smart speakers have vastly improved over the past years. From allowing Amazon Alexa to operate to featuring voice upgrades, these products prove that they still have a long way to progress.

Although these inventions make life easier, they also have downsides. As such, a deepfake could be used to scam people, like in the case of the 2021 heist. At the time, the hackers used a deepfake voice to steal $35 million from a company.

However, Takara Tomy wants to correct this situation by releasing its advanced technology that uses deepfake in a good way.

According to a report by Gizmodo, the Japanese company will soon launch a smart speaker that could easily copy a parent's voice.

The device called "Coemo" is a smart speaker which features a human face design on its exterior. The usual smart speaker that we see is for instructional purposes. However, this one is different.

Takara Tomy's AI-powered device intends to help parents who want to read stories to their children at bedtime. The smart speaker houses over 60 songs and stories, including the famous nursery rhymes, fables, folktales, and more.

The best thing about this smart speaker is its ability to emulate a person's voice. Through artificial intelligence, it copies the exact voice of a parent so he/she will have no problems when narrating a children's story at nighttime.

It's easy to use since you can access this right away with an iOS app. The Android version is expected to arrive soon.

Although Coemo could not exactly copy the quality of a voice, the product is still near-perfect nonetheless. The AI smart speaker could also imitate the voice intonations and inflections of an individual.

Takara Tomy guarantees that this would be a child-friendly tool that will help the kids bond with their beloved parents.
