T-Mobile's new speeds with 5G technology let users download movies in just a number of seconds. The company is now sharing its achievements with the world and how it was able to achieve 3Gbps speeds.

T-Mobile Achieves 3Gbps Network Speeds for Its Users

The company has just announced a new milestone it was able to achieve. The new milestone included combining three different channels of mid-band spectrum on its 5G network resulting in 3Gbps network speeds for its users.

As per the story by The Verge, the new speeds could be considered more than just a stunt since the company announced that they will make this type of technology available for customers sometime later this year.

New Speeds are Closer to mmWave Technology

The new speeds are reportedly approaching mmWave territory by achieving 3000Mbps or 3Gbps. This type of speed reportedly allows users to download a movie in just a matter of seconds.

Mid-band 5G is capable of reaching up to 200Mbps and although not anywhere near 3Gbps, this is still considered a huge upgrade compared to the current LTE speeds. T-Mobile is still doing a few changes behind the curtain in order to provide a significant speed boost for everyone.

T-Mobile Used Three Channels to Achieve The New Higher Speeds

To be more specific, the carrier is doing this by aggregating in order to combine different types of swaths of spectrum. The company is basically combining two different 2.5GHz 5G channels within certain parts of its network.

The most recent test-ups when it comes to the speeds include another third channel to the mix in order to offer the higher speeds. The results were a combination of three different channels working together in order to reach the top speed of 3Gbps.

Verizon Did the Same Back in 2020 Achieving Speeds of 4.2Gbps

By using carrier aggregation (with T-Mobile's own carriers) the company was able to show off certain impressive network speeds. This, however, was described as nothing new since Verizon previously used this type of technology in order to reach speeds of 4.2Gbps with its 5G technology.

Verizon was able to do this back in 2020 and now, two years later, T-Mobile announced speeds of 3Gbps. As reported on Fierce Wireless, Verizon carried out these speeds by using carrier aggregation as well.

Samsung Galaxy S22 T-Mobile Subscribers Will be the First to Use the Technology

T-Mobile, however, claims that it is the first company to ever use the three-carrier aggregation technology through a live, standalone 5G network "with a commercially available device." The device used was a Samsung Galaxy S22.

As per The Verge, subscribers of T-Mobile with a Galaxy S22 will be considered the first to gain access to this type of technology. Users with the Samsung device will be able to try the unique type of 5G technology when it arrives some time later this year.
