The Apple Watch has a new app called the "WatchTube" that allows users to play YouTube videos directly on the small screen.

Apple Watch Users can Now Watch YouTube Videos on Their Smartwatch

According to the story by Cult of Mac, the device has a 2-inch OLED screen which might not really be ideal to watch cinema-like videos at night. With the app, however, it won't be impossible to watch videos on the device.

An article by Republic World notes that for years, Apple Watch still lacked the capability to help users watch YouTube videos on the smartwatch until recently. The new app is called WatchTube and allows users to stream videos on the device itself.

How to Watch YouTube Videos on the Apple Watch

The app can be downloaded from the App Store and as per its posting, it notes that it will help users find their favorite content creators, play videos on YouTube, subscribe to channels, suggest videos, look at their history, like videos, enable captions, and more.

As per Republic World, the Apple Watch has remained one of the most popular smartwatches around the world and for years, it has been adding new features to make the device more versatile. Although numerous health features were added, not a lot of features directly dealt with entertainment.

What Users Will be Able to Do with WatchTube on the Apple Watch

With the new app, however, users will at least have an alternative to their smartphone to watch videos on the go. Let's say a user's favorite YouTuber drops a video and they want to watch it but are also busy using their phone for something else, they can then decide to watch the video on their Apple Watch instead.

The new app comes with a lot of entertaining use cases in different scenarios wherein the users will be able to check out YouTube videos on the go. This could also be very useful for users that are constantly listening to podcasts and other audio-focused type videos on YouTube.

The good thing about the app is that it does not require any complicated setups and can easily be accessed through the App Store instead of having to go through numerous hoops and "hack the system" in order to add the feature.

A video uploaded by 9to5Mac on YouTube details how users can use WatchTube in order to watch YouTube videos on the smartwatch device. Although it might look quite limited, users should still take into account that the Apple Watch itself is not designed for watching videos.

Users will be able to search for their favorite videos and watch them on the Apple Watch without having to do much work aside from downloading the WatchTube app from the App Store.
