The Pokémon Oceania International Championships last February 2020 in Melbourne, Australia, crowned a new world champion, and it is with Simone Lim, shocked the world with her ascension in the competition. Her appearance is not something one would expect to have significant prowess and capabilities, but she still managed to surprise everyone despite her young age.

According to Mashable's report, Lim defeated the defending champion, Justin Miranda-Radbord, in the competition and took the title for herself.

The finals event had Radford sporting two Pokemon in the arena, with Dusclops and Rhyperior, while Lim only had Tyranittar with almost half of its HP available.

Lim managed to damage the Dusclops critically, ending Rhyperior with her attacks, winning the match and clinching the championship.

Pokemon's Esports

"Pokemon" is a massive Japanese entertainment enterprise that started in the manga books before its adoption to games like video game titles and trading card experiences. Now, the franchise is huge in the world, and Nintendo, along with the Pokemon Company, brings the public a lot of experiences that will let them feel the world of pocket monsters.

One of the latest games in the market is the "Pokemon Scarlet and Violet," which is set to release later this year, available for everyone to experience the new third-person role-playing game. Many games are available now for the "Pokemon" experience, most of them for the Nintendo Switch platform, giving the world a portable gaming setup.

Another famous game now is "Pokemon GO" which also serves as a potential platform for Esports.

"Start 'em young" is a famous catchphrase for teaching the new generation ways how to participate in different tournaments or events that are available for all, something where there are already veterans and significant opponents. Simone Lim's journey is only beginning, and the champion has a bright future ahead of her, with the potential to be the world champion in the coming years.
