Blizzard Entertainment has just hit another milestone with one of its free-to-play games, "Diablo Immortal," reaching 20 million installs. The Action RPG game has been able to shift the initial negative thoughts regarding the game due to "heavy endgame monetization issues."

'Diablo Immortal' Got $24 Million within Weeks of Its Launch

According to the story by GameRanx, when the game initially launched, it was received quite negatively. This was because the game still had many endgame monetization issues that weren't that well received.

Despite launching with issues, the game has still been able to reach commercial success. The first two weeks of the game's launch allegedly brought in revenue worth 24 million USD.

The Game was Able to See 10 Million Installs After Just a Week Since Its Launch

To top everything off, in just around a week since the game launched, it was able to see over 10 million installs. The game has just recently crossed a massive milestone in terms of how many times "Diablo Immortal" was downloaded.

Blizzard Entertainment recently took it to Twitter in order to announce the new milestone of being able to reach 20 million times in total across all different platforms. The free-to-play model game has been one of the factors that have helped the game reach this massive milestone.

Blizzard is Giving Out Awards to Celebrate 20 Million Installs

To celebrate the new milestone, Blizzard will be giving out rewards for players to claim. According to an article by GamesRadar, the rewards will include a Legendary Crest, gold, and other pieces of rewards.

As per Mike Ybarra, the new boss of Blizzard, most of the "Diablo Immortal" players aren't spending money when playing the game, and its monetization officially kicks in when the end game finally happens.

The Company's New Boss Explains How the Game Tackles Monetization

As per Ybarra, "the monetization comes in at the end game." To explain, the new boss said that the main philosophy was that great gameplay should be leading in order to ensure that hundreds of players can enjoy the game without spending.

Ybarra also noted that "Diablo Immortal" also acts as a great introduction to "Diablo" as a whole. The game is available not just for mobile players but also for PC games as well.

Game Didn't Launch in Two European Countries Due to Certain Laws

Activision Blizzard also released an update on their website saying, "Skarn, Lord of Damnation has amassed his battle-hungry forces in anticipation of your near arrival to Sanctuary."

Before the game was released, the company stated that microtransactions won't overpower core gameplay. Just a few days later, the game announced that it will not be launching in two different European countries due to certain laws that are against gambling and boxes as well as play-to-win complaints.

Despite in-game microtransactions, the game was still able to break another milestone of reaching 20 million downloads.
