A new game on Steam called "VRChat" has received bad reviews after implementing a new Easy Anti-Cheat software. The feature was dubbed "controversial, " resulting in the game backlash from the community, affecting its score on Steam.

'VRChat' is Expected to Push Through with Easy Anti-Cheat Software

According to the story by Comic Book, "VRChat" is a virtual reality game that serves as a sort of go-to social setting for people who want to participate in virtual spaces. The developers behind the game, however, recently announced the introduction of the Easy Anti-Cheat software, which wasn't well received.

The Easy Anti-Cheat software is already being used in other games like "Elden Ring" and "Apex Legends" along with other popular titles. The software is mostly known for causing problems with players when it comes to complications with mods.

Game's Review Reached 'Overwhelmingly Negative' Status on Steam

Due to its somewhat shaky reputation, players are usually hesitant to embrace it, especially since the software was added post-release, which is exactly what the creators of "VRChat" are doing. The developers also noted that the software was added to help prevent users from attacking or harassing others.

As per the publication, looking at the Steam page will show how the new feature was received. The Recent Reviews section received 21,847 reviews putting the game at an "Overwhelmingly Negative" reception.

Reviews on Other Sites Weren't as Bad as on Steam

Similar negative reviews were also spotted on the Oculus site, though not as bad as the reviews on Steam. The game's listing on the Viveport site has not yet been visited by a lot of negative reviews by bombers.

The developers of the game, although well aware of how their decision was received, said that the EAC would still come no matter what. This means that no matter what users say, the company will still continue with the video's launch.

The Developers Plan to Address the Concerns

The creators updated the game's website, saying they are following up with the hard part and that they have no plans to roll their decision back. This doesn't mean that the company will do nothing regarding the backlash that they have received.

The developers noted that they are looking to address a lot of accessibility concerns with "VRChat." They also said that they are speaking with different "VRChat" communities as well as community leaders regarding the changes and additions that they are hoping to see in the game.
