Lucid Air Sapphire EV

As per the latest report by The Verge, the all-electric automaker Lucid Motors debuted the top-of-the-line variant of Lucid Air, which sports the Sapphire Edition nameplate.

The EV maker introduced the all-new Sapphire Edition at the Monterey Car Week, showcasing various upgrades from lower trim options, such as the Grand Touring Performance and the Dream Edition.

The Senior Vice President of Product at Lucid, who also sits as its Chief Engineer, Eric Bach, says that the new Sapphire Edition is a game-changer.

The Lucid Chief Engineer states that "Lucid is redefining what the family sedan can do" thanks to the arrival of the new top-of-the-line variant.

What to Expect from Lucid's $249,000 Performance EV

The Sapphire Edition runs on a tri-motor system, flaunting twin rear motors and another one at the front. The automaker estimates that it lashes out roughly 1,200 horsepower.

And as such, the tri-motor system of this upcoming EV pushes it to 0 to 100 miles per hour impressively snappy, at around less than four seconds, to be more exact. If that still does not sound impressive, it reaches a quarter-mile without going over nine seconds.

What's more, the car maker boasts that it flaunts a top speed of around 200 miles per hour.

How to Pre-Order Lucid Air Sapphire

Lucid Motors is opening the pre-orders for the new Sapphire Edition starting at 9 am in Eastern Time on August 23 in the United States and Canada, according to a recent report by Engadget.

It is worth noting that Lucid offers its impressively fast EV for a hefty price tag. The Air Sapphire starts to the tune of $249,000.

Engadget notes in its report that the new top-of-the-line EV makes the Grand Touring option tad cheaper in comparison with its $179,000 price

tag.

But it already performs up to 1,020 horsepower, allowing it to go from 0-60 miles per hour for 1.99 seconds.

However, the Air Sapphire beats in at the quarter-mile performance, at least on paper. The Plaid manages it for 9.2, whereas the Lucid goes less than 9 secs.
