Ukraine only has Soviet-era technology for its military fighter jets, but it does not stop them from tweaking it and putting modern equipment like the anti-radar missiles from the United States. The Ukrainian Air Force shared this feat with them, as its military personnel has to utilize what is available, even though its MiG-29 fighter jet is from the past Soviet era.

Ukraine Air Force Shows Fitted Anti-Radar Missiles for MiG-29s

According to a tweet by the Ukrainian Air Force, its pilots, engineers, and military personnel have found a way to retrofit the modern high-speed anti-radar missiles (HARM) from the US to its MiG-29 fighter jets. The said fighter jets are from the Soviet-era Ukraine, which is an outdated aircraft from the company, part of its military for several decades now.

Business Insider also reported that it is an available technology for the Ukrainian fighter pilots, as seen in the video, with them firing the HARM from their MiG-29 aircraft. The video also showed that while it fires the AGM-88 HARM shots, its cockpit also has a retrofitted commercial GPS and tablet to help modernize the MiG-29.

Ukraine's Military Technology is Mostly Outdated

As revealed by the video and through the course of this ongoing conflict with Russia, Ukraine's technology is primarily outdated, and it is what it currently uses to defend itself or launch attacks. It received significant donations to help its military fight back against the Russians and fend for themselves, but it seems that it is not enough for the continued onslaught it takes.

Ukraine and its Current State

The eastern European country of Ukraine has been facing its conflict with Russia for a good six months now, and since it erupted earlier this year, there have been much assistance and help which the country has received from different entities. One of them is from the United States, with the government giving Ukraine the high-speed anti-radar missiles (HARM) for its military needs.

Pledges and promises which were given to Ukraine in the past are pouring in now, and countries like the United States and Germany claimed before that they would supply the country in need of military equipment for defense. It is a massive need for Ukraine as it is at a significant disadvantage in the current state of things, also having no modern machines for its needs.

There were doubts if Ukraine would be able to use the modern technology given by countries like the United States and other donations for Ukraine. However, its situation calls for creative and ingenious ways to use what is available and given to the country, especially now that the tension is a significant turmoil for all.
