Pornhub, one of the most popular not safe for work (NSFW) websites, is the latest adult entertainment platform to get banned on Instagram.

On Instagram, anything can be shared, even if it's all about sensitive topics, including sex and politics. However, it's not always the case, especially if the website or an organization is involved in illegal content.

As indicated in a post by 9GAG, a famous site known for meme posting, the adult entertainment site already had over 13 million followers when it was removed from the platform.

The suspension of the account on Instagram took place thanks to Justice Defense Fund CEO Laila Mickelwait, who said that Pornhub has violated the laws, including sexual abuse and sex trafficking, which involve young people.

"Instagram has made the right decision by cutting ties with Pornhub, and now joins Visa, Mastercard, Discover, PayPal, Grant Thornton, Heinz, Unilever, Roku, and many other companies in rejecting to do business with Pornhub, a site infamous for monetizing the sex trafficking and criminal sexual abuse of countless victims including children," Michelwait told the New York Daily News.

Mickelwait cited that Pornhub violated the Trafficking Victim's Protection Act which says that the company has been engaging in a malicious way of earning a profit-- which in this case is through sex trafficking.

Aside from that, the nonprofit leader also urged the other tech firms to abide by the rules so they won't suffer the same fate as Pornhub. Some of the companies that she called out were Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.

Instagram Made a Right Move to Exterminate PHub

Per HNHH's report, National Center on Sexual Exploitation CEO Dawn Hawkins has acknowledged Instagram's effort to subdue Pornhub on the platform.

According to her, the social media app made the right thing by removing the adult site because of its violations regarding non-consensual pictures and clips, as well as the filmed rapes.

Hawkins said that the whole organization was grateful because Instagram stepped up to protect the rights of the unheard, especially the children who fell victim to various sex-related engagements.

Dawn knew that Pornhub was only using the survivors for their own profit.

Speaking of the site's posts on IG, it should be noted that Pornhub has not shared content related to NSFW, whether it's a video or an image.

However, the site was seen to be promoting porn to its followers. It's also spotted to be encouraging many people to venture into the entertainment industry.

Instagram has a history of banning famous groups or personalities on the platform.

In 2021, the site suspended former US President Donald Trump's account on Facebook and IG. This year, Ye or commonly known as Kanye West received a 24-hour ban from the platform because of his policy violations.
