Fans of the fantasy-packed franchise can sit tight as a "Final Fantasy XVI" trailer is expected to drop in October. The announcement specified that the trailer could drop as early as next month but there might still be a possibility of it launching longer than that.

More Details Regarding the 'Final Fantasy XVI' Announced During the Japan Game Awards

For those that are surprised by the news, there is a reason why a lot of people aren't really aware that a "Final Fantasy XVI" was coming soon or that it was ever in the works.

According to the story by Games Radar, after the Japan Game Awards, the producer and director of the upcoming "Final Fantasy 16" was asked whether they had plans to share more details regarding the anticipated RPG.

Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida Said a Trailer Would be Dropping Soon

Naoki Yoshida, the producer and director of "Final Fantasy XVI" reportedly gave an answer that would please FF fans worldwide. As translated by Gematsu, Yoshida announced that he is not sure how much he is allowed to say.

As per Yoshida, he is unsure about how much he is allowed to say because he has not had a chance to talk with the marketing or public relations team so far. He did note, however, that fans will be able to see the next trailer "next month or so."

Why was the 'Final Fantasy XVI' Not that Popular?

Yoshida even announced that aside from the trailer, there could also be an idea of when the game might release. According to Games Radar, "Final Fantasy 16" was actually released four years ago and was not noticed until just recently.

This is because the Creative Business Unit 3 of Square Enix did a talk at the CEDEC 2018 in Japan but failed to mention the game. The reason why the game is finally being noticed now is that the developer is finally talking about "none other than Final Fantasy 16."

Upcoming FF Game to Change Direction and Potentially Move Past the Crystals

The upcoming "Final Fantasy XVI," as far as we know, is planning to launch during the third quarter of 2023. The artwork has already started to emerge as part of the Tokyo Game Show and it also carries a caption regarding the plots that the game might include.

As per its revelation, the game involves breaking free from the whole Crystal protection theme that the FF series has long been following. Even larger news is that players might be able to check the game out through a demo version before its official launch.

As for the Crystals, in the game's debut back in 2020, the teaser said that "The legacy of the Crystals has shaped our history for long enough." This could signify a change in direction for the following FF titles.
