PS Plus, PS Now Removes ‘Red Dead Redemption’ for Modern Console—Only Available via Xbox

The online platforms of PlayStation, namely the PS Plus and PS Now, have removed "Red Dead Redemption" from gamers to access and play on its modern gaming consoles. The decision to do this is still unknown and the company has not commented on its removal of the famous Rockstar Games' fan-favorite role-playing game.

However, for users who want to continue playing "Red Dead Redemption," there are other options to choose from, especially with Xbox.

According to a known insider for Rockstar Games, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now have pulled the plug on "Red Dead Redemption" for the PS4 and PS5. Despite the game's six-year run on PS Now and letting gamers experience the first game to understand "Red Dead Redemption 2," the company still made it unavailable for gamers to play.

The decision for removing the famous Rockstar Games title is unknown from PlayStation, and it led to gamers' dismay over this decision.

Playing "Red Dead Redemption" now is hard, especially as there are no remasters from Rockstar Games and the developers did not release a PC version of the original title.

Where to Play 'Red Dead Redemption' Besides PlayStation?

According to Comicbook Gaming, the general public can still play "Red Dead Redemption" via its backwards compatibility via Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and the Xbox Series X. Additionally, they may be able to access the game via an emulator software on PCs, mirroring the gameplay from either the PlayStation or Xbox experience, but that is all there is to it.

'Red Dead Redemption' and Rockstar Games

"Red Dead Redemption" is a famous game that started its franchise centering on the Wild West and the cowboys which run it. Rockstar San Diego and Rockstar Games initially released the game in 2010, and for the longest time now, it is still available for the PlayStation 4 via the backwards compatibility and online platforms of the company.

However, that is no longer available for gamers, and they are left to play it on other consoles and platforms which support it.

The initially planned remaster for "Red Dead Redemption's" franchise, including the sequel title "Red Dead Redemption 2" was also scrapped by Rockstar Games for all platforms.

Good thing is that the game is available via Xbox's platforms for backwards compatibility, to allow gamers to further enjoy their experience with this famed single-story RPG.

PlayStation's removal of the game is a massive dent in the gaming industry, especially as many people still enjoy the previous title's offers, despite being old. Rockstar Games is not that active in releasing sequels or remasters of the game which leaves players no choice but to revisit the franchise's past games to complete their experience.
