iMore reports that the new iPad video editing tool boasts a more optimized setting which goes well with Apple Pencil and multi-touch display.

Although it's not the full version of the app on PC or MAC, it's still a highly reliable tool for professional editors. For its initial release, it will feature Color and Cut pages.

In addition, this app has support for various file formats such as Blackmagic RAW, Apple ProRes, H.265, and more. You can also access the videos on the iCloud storage or USB-C media disk, Blackmagic Design stated on Facebook.

The iPad version of DaVinci Resolve will open more collaborative projects that every editor could use, thanks to the Blackmagic Cloud. According to the company, it will use the same codebase that Hollywood feature films use.

What's the Catch With the New DaVinci Resolve App on iPad?

According to an article by Engadget, there are several tweaks that Blackmagic Design did to the app's UI. For example, you won't see the menu bar anymore in the iPad version.

Blackmagic also said that the Edit page would not be available anytime soon on the iPad. Particularly, this feature will be suited for editors who regularly use a mouse and keyboard for video editing.

"This makes it very difficult to move to the iPad without changing it in a way that would cause problems for professional editors who rely on the edit page for their work," the company said. Because of that, the Cut page will gain new features, including "enhanced audio support, key framing, split edits, and more," the company said in a statement.

Aside from these, the iPad edition of the DaVinci Resolve app won't have Fairlight and Fusion effects for now. The company clarified that the features won't work yet on the new platform. Blackmagic Design said that this would still be added in the future once the updates are available.

To date, Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve remains to be one of the most used tools when it comes to video editing. It's a very useful app that offers a lot of features for professionals.

For just $300, you can fully take advantage of it, and all of its future updates will be used for free. Somehow, it's a better alternative to consider if you're planning to pay for Adobe Premiere monthly.

Of course, before you can use DaVinci Resolve, make sure that your tablet has the latest iPadOS 16 version. The same OS will be used for the upcoming iPad Pro and iPad 2022.
