Overwatch 2 New Hero Ramattra: What We Know About His Skills So Far

Ramattra will be Overwatch 2's 11th tank hero, bringing a new skill set to the team. Additionally, a new map will be released that will have a connection to Ramattra's story.

According to Polygon, Ramattra will have two forms, a standard Omnic form and a massive second form that is called Nemesis. While in his standard Omnic form, Ramattra utilizes a staff as his combat weapon, which fires projectiles. He is also able to create a barrier to protect his team, similar to Reinhardt and Brigitte's skill set.

When Ramattra uses his second form, Nemesis, he takes on a massive form that makes him one of the largest hero models in the game, dealing powerful melee attacks to the opposing team during a countdown period. However, his large form would make him vulnerable to long-range enemy attacks as he instantly becomes a much easier target to take down.

Ramattra's Relation to Overwatch 2's Zenyatta?

According to Dexerto, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller initially teased in a past stream that the new hero was a character that players had already seen in past cinematics.

Now, with the reveal of the identity of the new Overwatch 2, fans were able to piece together the connection as Ramattra had already appeared in the "Overwatch Storm Rising Ending" Cinematic Cutscene that concluded the game's Storm Rising event as the unnamed Omnic, alongside Doomfist.

Ramattra is an Omnic, which are artificially intelligent robots produced through omniums. He was revealed to be the leader of the extremist group Null Sector. According to Gamespot, game designer Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie revealed that aside from sharing the same robotic race, Ramattra had been one of the Omnics that fled to the Shambali Monastery, which Mondatta originally led, alongside support hero Zenyatta, even becoming as close as brothers.

However, Ramattra and Zenyatta eventually parted ways as the former focused on his sense of justice to fight for the Omnic race following traumatic events, while Zenyatta remained as a monk to keep Omnic-human relations at a peaceful balance.

"Originally a war machine, Ramattra shed his munitions for a shield to protect his people by promoting peace and tranquility. His ideals weren't far removed from his fellow Shambli monk, Zenyatta." According to Activision Blizzard's official press release. "However, Ramattra's story is one of the hardships, trauma, and a magnified view of humanity's harsh realities.
