As Daily Mail spotted, several photos of bizarre ways of EV charging have caught the attention of the authorities who later urged the owners to stop doing them.

The images show that some EV owners attach extension cords from their homes to their vehicles across the street. The cords passed through the trees on the road.

Because of the huge danger that's waiting for those who used to do this, the Mosman Council banned those who run charging cables across the roads.

Instead of sticking to the weird EV charging practices, the council encouraged the residents to use the fast charging stations that are currently operating in the suburb.

According to a Mosman council spokesman via The Daily Telegraph, attaching the power to the EV is considered a "potentially unsafe" method for every owner.

Another spokesperson, but this time from NSF Fire and Rescue said that those who fail to utilize an approved charging system are facing a huge risk of encountering fires at their homes.

What the Netizens Think About the EV Charging Malpractice

Per News.com.au, some people are complaining about the lazy charging methods on social media. Some users think that the locals can potentially trip on the cords lying on the streets.

"Still waiting eagerly for the first huge slip and trip injury claim against a council for allowing cables to be lying all over the footpaths," one commenter said.

While some social media users are criticizing the malpractices of some EV owners, other commentators pointed out that the city lacks the needed charging station for electric cars.

One user cited that some EV owners have "bad planning" on their charging etiquette. He added that he has an external plug point.

Another person demanded that EV owners who endanger other people's lives should be suspended from driving. The same netizen was concerned about the potential outcome that could happen if the cord gets wet because of the rain.

Meanwhile, another posted that lawyers will have a tedious task on their work this week. EV owners who engage in such dangerous activities should first check their home insurance policies for safety.

The EV industry in Australia is evidently improving this year. So far, the country recorded a 65% improvement in the number of electric car sales in 2022.

At the same time, the waiting times for the EVs showed a significant development over time.

Despite the popular demand for electric vehicles in Australia, it only equates to less than 4% of the total car sales in the country.
