A day before the World Cup kicks off in Qatar, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo partners with top cryptocurrency exchange Binance to launch his own non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
This specific NFT collection will be Cristiano Ronaldo's first and part of the star's exclusive, multi-year partnership with leading crypto platform Binance.
Cristiano Ronaldo: The NFT Collection
Business Mirror reports that the launch will be accompanied by a global marketing campaign starring the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner to introduce his fans to Web3 through the world of NFTs. The said NFT collection was made public last Friday, Nov. 18.
In a tweet from Nov. 15, Cristiano Ronaldo told his followers that his first NFT collection could allow soccer fans to own iconic moments from the star's career by joining his own Web community.
This is not the first time a soccer icon has been tapped for a blockchain-based collaboration. Earlier this month, PSG forward Lionel Messi joined the French NFT trading card game Sorare as an investor and brand ambassador. Additionally, Kylian Mbappe was named a brand ambassador in June.

"We are honored to collaborate with Cristiano to help more people understand blockchain and showcase how we are building Web3 infrastructure for the sports and entertainment industry," Binance Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer He Yi said in a statement.
The Binance official also said that the platform believes that the metaverse and the blockchain are the future of the internet.
Ronaldo himself supports this statement by stating that the collection is "something memorable and unique for my fans, as they are such a big part of my success."
Ronaldo will play his fifth and final World Cup in Qatar.

The Cristiano Ronaldo NFT collection will include seven animated statues that will be available in four rarity levels: Super Super Rare (SSR), Super Rare (SR), Rare (R), and Normal (N). Each rarity level includes a unique set of perks, such as a personal message from Ronaldo and signed football shirts.
Each NFT statue depicts Ronaldo in an iconic moment from his life, from career-defining bicycle kicks to his childhood in Portugal.
A CR7 Mystery Box giveaway is also available to the first 1.5 million new Binance users who register and complete the KYC process. Each box contains one of two Stone-colored mystery-box exclusive Ronaldo NFTs. The star himself advised interested fans to use code "RONALDO" to unlock exciting rewards.
Binance.com's US partner is offering a free souvenir NFT for USD deposits made on the platform during the promotion period. Users who receive the souvenir NFT will be added to a whitelist and will be able to purchase future CR7 NFTs.
