People purchase the new iPhone XS and XS Max at the Apple store in Midtown Manhattan on September 21, 2018 in New York City. The two new phones, which feature longer battery life and faster processors, went on sale Friday. Apple recently hit a market cap of $1 trillion, making it the first publicly traded U.S. company to reach $1 trillion.

Apple Supplier Hints iPhone 15 Pro Likely to Feature Haptic Volume, Power Buttons

As per the recent report by Mac Rumors, the British research giant, Barclays, disclosed that the supplier of the iPhone maker, Cirrus Logic, hinted at one of the changes for its upcoming flagship device.

To be more precise, the Apple supplier reportedly suggests that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro offerings are bidding farewell to the previous clicking side buttons of the mobile device.

For the past iterations of the iPhone, the volume and power buttons never really got any attention. It was the same old design over the years.

While some Android offerings started including a fingerprint scanner on their power buttons, the Cupertino firm has completely ditched such a biometric method.

This time, Apple is reportedly looking to improve the side buttons of its flagship phone.

Cirrus Logic possibly suggests that the power and volume clickers are transforming into haptic buttons once the new iPhone debuts.

New Volume and Power Buttons Arriving Next Year

Meanwhile, according to a news story by Engadget, a well-known analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, says that the next iPhone is potentially killing the physical side buttons in favor of haptic counterparts.

The new iPhone 14 Pros and 14 Pro Max are on display at an Apple event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, on September 7, 2022. - Apple unveiled several new products including a new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. They also released three Apple watches and new AirPods Pros during the event.

Kuo further revealed that the new design of the side buttons is similar to the home button that we first saw on the iPhone 7.

Unlike the version, which the iPhone 6s sported, it is a non-physical button. Instead, it only used Taptic Engine to resemble the experience of pressing a button.

It is worth mentioning that Apple still offers the said home button design in the latest generation of the iPhone SE.

On top of that, the analyst also notes that the new side buttons are likely to be akin to Mac trackpads these days.

It turns out that the latest suggestion from the Apple supplier essentially corroborates the early claims of Kuo. So it appears that the renowned tech giant is working to remove the mechanical buttons from its next-generation smartphone.
