The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is fast approaching, and this year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever. From Jan. 6-9, technology professionals and enthusiasts from around the world will converge on the city to see the latest and greatest in consumer electronics and technology.

Forbes reports on the firms to expect at this annual technology summit. This year's CES appears to have a lot to offer tech fans.

A Look at Standout Areas

Forbes tells us that one of the standout areas at CES is automotive technology. This year, Tirias Research expects to see a wide variety of vendors showcasing infotainment systems, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Autonomous Vehicle (AV) systems, and new Electric Vehicle (EV) platforms.

Companies like Ambarella, Mobileye, Nvidia, and Qualcomm will all be present, along with tier-one suppliers like Bosch, Continental, Magna International, and ZF. In fact, almost half of the press conferences at CES are typically focused on automotive and transportation technology.

Another area to watch at CES is heavy machinery. Companies like John Deere, Bobcat, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and Caterpillar will all be exhibiting their latest technologies. John Deere, in particular, has become a staple at the event, as CEO John May has emphasized that his company is a technology company.

Last year, Bobcat introduced the all-electric T7X compact track loader, and this year, Hyundai Heavy Industries is expected to make some exciting announcements given its investments in AI, robotics, EVs, and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Reports tell us that industrial automation is also a growing presence at CES, with a range of production and material management robots on display, as well as agriculture technology (Agtech). Health and medical products will also be well-represented, with everything from equipment for the operating room to home and fitness monitoring on display.

A Time for Startups

In addition to these areas, CES is always home to a vast array of startups showcasing their new products. These startups are located in the Eureka Park area of the Venetian Conference Center and often feature the latest advances in processing, AI, connectivity, robotics, and sensing technologies.

Of course, CES is also known for its wide range of consumer products, including PCs, TVs, displays, Wi-Fi routers, microphones, audio systems, earbuds and headphones, drones, 3D printers, AR and VR headsets, and all the accessories that go along with them. AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, will be giving an opening keynote at CES, so we can expect to hear about some new AMD PC products at the very least.

Unfortunately, the next generation of smartphones will not be well represented at this year's CES since most makers will wait until the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February to make their debuts, Forbes reports. However, there may yet be some cellular technology announcements.

Overall, CES is an event not to be missed for anyone interested in the tech industry. With a wide range of technologies on display, from automotive and heavy machinery to industrial automation and consumer products, there is something for everyone. Whether you are a technology professional or simply an enthusiast, make sure to mark your calendars for CES 2023.
