Casio's new G-Shock watch now comes with the fitness tracking technology of Polar, as the latter starts licensing its algorithm to other rivaling watches.

With that, the all-new G-Shock G-Squad GBD-H2000 turns out to be the first-ever non-Polar watch to be "powered by Polar."

Here's a look at Casio's new G-Shock G-Squad GBD-H2000, which sports Polar's fitness tracking technology.

Casio's New G-Shock Watch Is Polar-equipped

The renowned watchmaker, Casio, introduced its all-new G-Shock G-Squad offering, supporting multiple sports activities like biking and running, to name a few, thanks to its wide range of sensors.

Casio confirms that its new sports-driven G-Shock offers its users the algorithms made by Polar.

On top of that, the Japanese watchmaker says that the latter is the pioneer in fitness tracking technology with an experience in the field for almost 50 years.

But it turns out that the new "Powered by Polar" G-Shock is only the beginning.

Polar's Algorithm Starts Arriving at Rival Watches

According to Engadget, Polar, which offers fitness watches, is actually diligently working on several algorithms for other rivaling watchmakers.

In fact, the firm is now gearing up to bring 25 fitness algorithms to select firms, which will soon debut their own "Powered by Polar" watches.

But what does the Polar algorithm bring to these rival watches? Engadget notes in its story that it offers the comprehensive tracking technology of the fitness watchmaker, from activity to sleep.

Polar reportedly says that one of the advantages of using their tracking tech is that these companies would no longer spend years of research and development to bring similar features.

Essentially, it should allow these watchmakers to focus on developing the design and other aspects of their wearables. They could save a lot of time and effort by simply licensing existing fitness algorithms.

While it is the first instance that Polar provides its technology to a competing company, the firm has been providing its online tracking tools to business customers, Engadget notes.

And this time, its fitness tech is coming to more wearables as more watchmakers adopt it, starting with Casio.

The new Casio G-Shock G-Squad provides its users with nifty GPS functionality, alongside six sensors, such as the accelerometer and thermo sensor.

It also features an optical sensor, bringing heart rate measurement capabilities. Not to mention it comes with an altitude/air pressure sensor, a gyroscope, and a compass.

The Japan-based firm says that these sensors "enable measurement of distance, speed, pace, and more to support activities from running and biking to swimming."

On top of these sensors, the Polar algorithm helps users track their fitness and health information.

The new sports-driven G-Shock comes with four color options. Buyers choose various colorways, including "Black and Orange," "Black and Yellow," "Blue and Orange, and "Black and Black."
