Nothing Phone (2), the upcoming successor of the Nothing Phone (1), is set to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chipset. It sure is a huge leap from the current generation.

No less than Nothing Chief Executive Officer, Carl Pei, confirms during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona that the next Nothing Phone is getting a more powerful chipset as the device debuts this year.

Nothing Phone (2)'s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Chip

Based on the latest report from XDA Developers, Nothing CEO revealed that their next-generation Android smartphone is shifting away from a mid-range chipset to a flagship processor.

It is worth noting that the Nothing Phone (1), its first-ever smartphone, runs on a mid-range Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 778G+, according to Mashable.

So unlike the flagships of other Android phone makers, such as Samsung or OnePlus, Nothing entered the market by settling with one of Qualcomm's midrange rather than the most powerful option out there.

But this time, as the Nothing Phone (2) gears up for its debut later this 2023, things are about to change drastically.

During the packed MWC 2023 event, the big boss of Nothing, who also co-founded OnePlus, Pei, settled once and for all that their phone is getting a flagship processor. The next-gen phone rocks a Snapdragon 8.

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 04: OnePlus Co-founder Carl Pei speaks onstage during TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2019 at Moscone Convention Center on October 04, 2019 in San Francisco, California.

However, GSM Arena notes in its report that the phone maker failed to specify which Snapdragon 8 is powering its next-generation smartphone.

But despite that, some are assuming that Nothing is going for the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This chipset powers the latest flagships these days, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 series and the OnePlus 11.

But take this with a grain of salt. Nothing might also go the other route, surprisingly using the older Gen 1.

New Nothing Product Next Month?

Aside from confirming the Nothing Phone (2) chipset, Pei also disclosed that they plan to launch a new product next month or in March, to be more precise.

It is unclear what the tech firm plans to add to its short list of products. The phone maker currently offers three devices, the Nothing Phone (1), the Nothing Ear (1), and the Nothing Ear (stick).

But it would not take long before the new product sees the light of day, as Pei says they will announce it in the next couple of days.

When is Nothing Phone (2)'s Release Date

The upcoming product that Nothing is planning to introduce this March is unlikely to be the Nothing Phone (2).

The Verge reports that the Phone 2 will be released in the United States in late 2023.

Yes, unlike the Phone 1, the next-generation mobile device is coming to the US, along with other territories in Europe and Asia.
