The news of the Alice McGee trilogy not being continued has disappointed fans of the game and the developers who were part of the project. EA's refusal to fund, license, or sell the game has left developer American McGee with a feeling of defeat. 

EA's Legal Conflict Halts Creation of Alice: Asylum 

According to the story by Dual Shockers, with a "design bible" created by a team of creators and artists, the team was trying to collaborate with EA to greenlight the game-Estimated to need up to a $50M budget. Unfortunately, due to legal conflicts with EA, the game will not be able to be brought to fruition. 

This "design bible" included everything fans could have expected from Alice: Asylum, from the game's core concept to the story that concludes the series. This transparency from the production team allowed fans to become part of the decision-making and the hype for the game. 

McGee Has Reached an 'Endpoint' with Alice: Madness Returns 

Despite fans being excited about the continuing adventures of Alice, the lack of funding and license from EA has diminished these expectations. McGee touched on his opinion of EA's decision in a recent Patreon post. 

He emphasized his disappointments and that he has no investment in pursuing new game ideas with the already established base he's created. Even if EA changes its mind, McGee's contribution to his creation has come to an "endpoint" as he has no desire to be involved in any future or Alice-related project.

The news of Alice: Asylum's cancellation leaves fans of American McGee and the Alice trilogy with a feeling of sadness. There were so many expectations for this game, yet those were all to be left unanswered. 

EA's decision leaves double the disappointment, as the creation of a powerful and meaningful game has been discarded unceremoniously. With the post on Patreon and McGee referencing an "endpoint" with his involvement in Alice and the game production, the Alice McGee trilogy is unlikely ever to be continued.

The End of an Era: James McGee Declares End of Alice McGee Saga 

Despite all the expectations and much-needed closure, the third installment would have given, James McGee, the original developer, expressed his disappointment in a recent post and declared that neither he nor any of the creators involved in the project intend to be involved in future Alice-related patches or projects. 

According to McGee, this "endpoint" in the Alice McGee saga is nothing less than real and means the end of a five-year journey. Given the great anticipation the game had among its fans, the disappointment is understandable. 

However, no fans can dispute the latest legal roadblocks imposed by EA mean a change of heart is not likely. As to the future of Alice, it appears the ever-expanding world of McGee's original Alice-verse trilogy will remain exactly that-a trilogy.
