The Pokemon Company has released a myriad of mainline game remakes over the past years. Three decades later, we are yet to see a fresh take on the 1996 "Pokemon Red and Blue" games, which first came out on Game Boy.

An artist reimagined these classic games not in the form of the re-made "FireRed and LeafGreen" and "Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee" games but in a different level at par with Unreal Engine 5-powered titles.

According to Nintendo Soup, a 3D pixel artist Dott has designed a remake version of "Pokemon Red and Blue," particularly the locations of Pallet and Vermillion City.

The YouTuber pulled out a successful brand-new Gen-1 title using Unreal Engine 5. He rendered the details of the two places in a much more vivid style.

The most interesting part here is that Dott did not recreate the original NPC designs of the characters. He also polished his own version for other Pokemon, including Pidgey and Machop.

With "Pokemon Red and Blue" coming back to life in their full 3D look, many people think that it's the perfect remake they have seen so far.

Does Dott Plan to Release Other Fanmade Pokemon Games?

SlashGear writes in its report that Dott has no plans to turn his works into an official game. According to him, it's more of a personal project.

He told his fans and viewers to appreciate his 3D creations since the official remake versions of the games won't be available anytime soon.

Again, it only goes to show Dott's love for the Pokemon franchise. He did not want to mess up with The Pokemon Company and Nintendo, who are after fan-made modders and creators.

The companies are also known for being strict when it comes to issuing intellectual property. They send cease and desist letters to those who create their Pokemon game inspired by the original installments.

Although it's quite impossible that we can play the 3D-remake version of "Pokemon Red and Blue" like this, seeing them existing means so much to the whole Pokemon community.

The impressive work of Dott, starting from the colorful sprite to well-scaled cities and towns in-game, could be an eye-opener that Nintendo and other gaming companies could do much better than they can actually do.

Last month, Tech Times reported that a Twitter user played "Pokemon Emerald" as a full-text simulation in GPT-4.

Unlike the GameBoy version, which involves clicking, this version is more of a text-based interface-something that only requires the player to write a simple command.
