Teasing Midnight Cherry Red

After offering only a handful of color options that have remained the same for the last few years, Tesla is now adding rare new colors to their lineup which has been waiting by its buyers and loyal customers. Electrek reported that Tesla released a new teaser for the new paint job, which will come to select locations in Europe starting today.

While the new Midnight Cherry Red does look familiar as it is very similar to the original signature red color of Tesla, the new color is much darker and has more depth based on the released photos and teasers from the company.

Previously, Tesla used to offer a variety of colors back in the early days. But since then, the company focused on releasing simpler colors like Sierra Black, Pearl White, Metallic Silver, Monterey Blue, and more. By adding Midnight Cherry Red and Quicksilver to its lineup, it will hype up its existing vehicles despite not releasing a new offering.

In the meantime, the new colors are available only for European and Middle Eastern customers as these vehicles are only being applied in Tesla's Berlin factory due to the paint shop there being able to apply more fine layers of paint than factories in the United States. "The paint shop can apply "up to 13 layers for depth, dimension & a hand-painted look," Tesla stated.

Additionally, the new colors will be much more expensive than other offerings as it is considered "rare" by the company. Previously, the original red was $2,200, whereas now Midnight Cherry Red is $3,400. By looking at this comparison, it does have a stiff charge just for a paint color.

Previous Teasers

This is not the first time we see the Midnight Cherry Red as it already appeared on Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk's original Tesla Roadster, launched into space via a SpaceX rocket. While it was previously a one-off custom color during those times, customers from Europe and the Middle East can now have the same color on their vehicles.

Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red were also revealed in a promotional video released by the company last October 2022. Additionally, the Tesla brought the Model Y vehicles to the Zurich auto show in Switzerland posted by Vison E Drive last November 2022

Deliveries

Teslarati reported that this announcement comes after reports of the Model Y units painted in Midnight Cherry Red and Quicksilvers were already being shipped out from the facility as early as March this year. These sightings suggested that deliveries might come soon, which became true.

This has been brought for a sort of promotion tour. But Tesla has now announced that will be coming to their selected stores tomorrow and deliveries are starting now in Europe, with Middle East stores later this year. No confirmation yet if the company will also be announcing the launch of the new color lineup in North America.
