One might say that BMW is not that massive with its electric mobility, but the German car manufacturer has recently unveiled its latest development for clean energy transportation, with its all-electric boat called "THE ICON." The company made this new electric boat with TYDE, a company best known for creating racing yachts in the market.

The new all-electric boat boasts luxury and performance in the waters, using new designs that would give it better efficiency compared to conventional ones.

BMW, TYDE Debuts an All-Electric Boat Called 'THE ICON'

German automaker BMW and cutting-edge maritime company TYDE have collaborated to introduce a groundbreaking all-electric single-deck boat called "THE ICON." Leveraging BMW i's high-voltage battery technology, this innovative watercraft utilizes a battery-electric drive system and features hydrofoils and an advanced hull design.

Boasting a length of 43.14 feet and an impressive top speed of 30 knots (34 mph), THE ICON showcases exceptional efficiency, speed, and sustainability in the marine industry.

THE ICON represents a significant step forward in electric boating, highlighting BMW's commitment to sustainability and innovation beyond the automotive sector. By incorporating BMW i's high-voltage batteries, the vessel showcases the same cutting-edge technology that powers BMW's electric vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency on the water.

The utilization of hydrofoils and an advanced hull design sets THE ICON apart from conventional boats. Hydrofoils, submerged wings that lift the boat out of the water, reduce drag and friction, resulting in a remarkable 80 percent reduction in energy requirements compared to traditional vessel designs.

'THE ICON' Brings a Hans Zimmer Soundtrack

According to Engadget, one of the oddities of this boat does not only lie in its design but also its features inside, centering on its Dolby Atmos speakers which package in a Hans Zimmer soundtrack to play on deck. Hans Zimmer is a known composer for famous scores in films including "The Lion King," "Pirates of the Caribbean," and more.

BMW's Electric Mobility

BMW is known to have faced significant controversies with its clean energy mobility, and one is the company's hybrid releases which were regarded to be dirtier than ICEs.

Still, there are concept cars that BMW introduced to the world in the last CES which centers on their all-new design for an electric vehicle that will debut circular features on the vehicle. Other electric mobility projects are also underway by the company.

The partnership between BMW and TYDE represents a merging of expertise from the automotive and maritime industries, fusing innovation and sustainability to redefine the future of boating. TYDE's expertise in hydrofoil technology, combined with BMW's high-voltage battery expertise, has resulted in an exceptional watercraft that sets new standards for efficiency and performance.

THE ICON embodies BMW's vision of sustainable mobility and extends it to the marine industry. By offering an all-electric alternative for boating enthusiasts, BMW and TYDE are contributing to the reduction of emissions and paving the way for cleaner and more sustainable marine transportation.
