Intel Arc A380 GPU Sold at a Massive Discount on JD, a Chinese Retailer

According to the story by the WCCF Tech, the Intel Arc A380 GPU being sold at a discount is the GUNNIR version, which has been the subject of a sale by JD, a Chinese retailer. The Chinese retailer is selling this GPU lowly because of the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, which is coming soon.

The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival is reportedly coming on June 18; ahead of that, the Chinese Retailer JD has decided to discount certain tech items. This includes the GUNNIR Intel Arc A380 INDEX, down to around $107.4, after a discount of around 40%.

The report also revealed that another GPU was being sold at a discount, the Photon variant of the Intel Arc A380 INDEX, which dropped its price to just $135. These two are among the many other tech discounts that Chinese Retailer JD offers on its website.

The article by WCCF Tech also talks about when it comes to the GPU game, Intel still needs to catch up to NVIDIA and AMD, which both still overshadow Intel's very own Arc series. Aside from the Arc series, Intel's next-gen Battlemage GPU lineup still also needs to be improved, per the article.

The Battlemage GPU lineup is expected to release in the second half of 2024. Still, ahead of its drop, the article compares it to NVIDIA's RTX and AMD's Radeon series.

However, the article also talks about how there could be an opportunity for Intel to catch up, especially when rivaling NVIDIA. This was because of the performance of the newest RTX 4060.

What Fans Can Expect from the Intel Arc A380 GPU

Aside from the RTX 4060, the article also mentioned the AMD RX 7600, which could make room for the Intel Arc A750 and Arc A770 in terms of budget options. However, the now-discounted Intel Arc A380 GPU remains an entry-level option.

Some notable specs of the Arc A380 include 8 Xe-Cores or 1024 ALUs, and 6 GB GDDR6 memory with TBP. The GPU was also rated at around 92 watts with a maximum frequency of 2450 MHz.

The GUNNIR custom model reportedly also comes with a 15.5 GBps VRAM clock for its bandwidth of 186 GBbps. As for the Photon version, the device comes with DirectX 12 Ultimate, and its backplate extends past the PCB with a single 6mm nickel-plated copper heat pipe. It also comes in a different color theme, sporting a dual-tone mixture of black and grey.
