US-based cable operator Liberty Global said late on February 5, 2013 that it will acquire Virgin Media in a stock and cash merger valued at USD $23.3 billion, eyeing key strategic markets in Europe.

Virgin Media Down

The extent of the issue is evident as Down Detector UK, a platform that monitors service outages across the country, has already recorded nearly 1,000 reports at the time of writing.

This substantial number indicates the scale of the problem at hand. Understandably, disgruntled users have taken to Twitter to express their frustrations.

Coluche59, a Twitter user, highlighted the ongoing dilemma, stating, "Anyone else having problems with Virgin Media email in the UK? It's been down since just after 23:00 Sunday 18 June, UK time (just over 9 hours) with login failures and failures to find the servers."

The majority of the reported issues revolve around email access, accounting for 74% of the problems. Other concerns include difficulties with landline internet and a total blackout of services, comprising 16% and 9% of the reports, respectively.

Virgin Media, a renowned provider of broadband, TV, mobile phone, and landline services in the UK, is grappling with these disruptions.

Their network is known for delivering high-speed broadband connections to homes and businesses. With a workforce of approximately 12,000 employees in the UK, Virgin Media is a significant player in the telecommunications industry.

The company is part of Liberty Global, a globally recognized entity specializing in converged video, broadband, and communications services.
