Xbox Game Pass received a price increase recently, with Microsoft adjusting its pricing structure for Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate in various regions.

While the price hikes may disappoint some gamers, there are still opportunities to secure discounted subscriptions. Let us explore the details and what this means for Xbox players.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: New Pricing and Benefits

Starting with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the all-inclusive subscription that offers access to games on console, PC, and the cloud, the monthly cost has risen to £12.99/€14.99/$16.99.

However, Eurogamer.net tells us that existing monthly subscribers will not experience the new pricing until August 13 (September 13 in Germany). Additionally, the increased pricing will only take effect for yearly subscribers upon renewal.

Despite the price increase, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate remains a compelling option for gamers. The subscription includes:

  • Xbox Live Gold's benefits.
  • Over 100 high-quality console and PC games.
  • Exclusive member deals and discounts.
  • Access to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Furthermore, subscribers also gain an EA Play membership, offering even more games and discounts, as well as the perks of Xbox Live Gold, such as free monthly games and online multiplayer.

Game Pass Console Pricing and Exceptions

While most countries will see the price increase for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass console pricing will remain the same in select regions.

Norway, Chile, Denmark, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia are among the countries where the console pricing will stay unchanged.

This means subscribers in those areas can continue enjoying their Game Pass experience at the current rates.

Xbox Series X Price Increase

In addition to the Game Pass subscription adjustments, Xbox Series X, Microsoft's flagship gaming console, will also see a price increase in most countries starting August 1.

As The Verge reports, the UK price will rise from £449.99 to £479.99, and across most of Europe, the cost will increase from €499.99 to €549.99. This puts the Xbox Series X in direct competition with Sony's PlayStation 5, which had a price increase last year.

However, it is worth noting that no price adjustments have been announced for the Xbox Series S, the more affordable and digital-only version of the console. This means that the Xbox Series S will continue to offer a cost-effective option for gamers seeking next-generation gaming experiences.

Discounts and Opportunities for Savings

While the price increases may concern some gamers, there are still ways to save on Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.

It is currently possible to purchase a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription for just $41.66, offering a discount compared to the regular price. Similarly, one-month subscriptions can be obtained for $13.82 through platforms like Amazon.

Gamespot reports that these subscriptions can be stacked, allowing users to extend their Game Pass membership by up to 36 months. With the codes added to your Amazon digital locker immediately and no expiration date, you can plan ahead and secure access to an extensive library of games at a discounted rate.
