Roblox, a well-known Metaverse platform, will be coming to Meta's Quest VR headsets, according to an announcement from Facebook's parent company.

It has been keenly awaited that Roblox would be available on Quest VR headsets since it represents an essential advancement in the metaverse arena.

On the Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets, users will have access to the Roblox Quest edition. Additionally, Meta has said it would work with the forthcoming Quest 3 headset, which has drawn much interest from VR enthusiasts, according to TechCrunch.

The open beta stage will allow the Roblox developer community to refine their current VR experiences and games for Quest while also gathering important input from the Quest users. Before Roblox gets fully released on the Meta Quest Store, this collaborative strategy will let developers test and refine their VR applications.

Here's What to Expect

According to a blog post by Meta, Roblox will automatically publish VR experiences that use default player scripts to support VR devices. The business has discovered that these experiences work effectively in VR without significant adjustments.

Consequently, the Roblox VR library will launch with many exciting stuff. Roblox's cross-platform functions will allow people to play, communicate, and connect with friends on Xbox, iOS, Android, and PC, boosting VR's social aspects.

The Roblox open beta is restricted to Quest 2 and Quest Pro headset users. Because it won't be available in time for the test, the impending Quest 3 wasn't included in the announcement.

However, given the platform's enormous popularity and over 66 million daily users across several platforms, the complete edition of Roblox on Quest 3 would make for a thrilling launch title.

Roblox is entirely cross-platform, so anything made or viewed on phones, consoles, or other devices will be available in VR, depending on how the developer implements it.

The Roblox team is aggressively pushing developers to use an upcoming toolset available through the Creator Dashboard to assist VR creation. Developers will soon have access to VR alongside desktop, mobile, tablet, and console choices as a new device category on the dashboard, per Engadget.

More Than Just a Video Game

Roblox is more than just a game, developers may use it to construct their metaverse experiences. By serving as a portal to various experiences, the Roblox app enables users to share one avatar and online identity throughout the platform's 15 million active experiences, according to Androidcentral.

Since the initial reports surfaced over a year ago, people have been waiting for Roblox to come to the Quest VR headsets. Many developers have been actively developing VR-focused experiences for Roblox since that period, indicating that Roblox is positioned to take over as the preferred platform for game developers wanting to make immersive VR experiences with the debut of Quest.

In 2021, Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki remarked on an investor call that the Quest platform would be an excellent match for Roblox, and his words now are in line with what has just been announced. The firm intended to provide Roblox on Meta Quest for some time.
