New images of what was previously thought of as the Redmi Pad 2 have surfaced online. However, it turned out to be the upcoming Redmi Pad SE, which is expected to have a Snapdragon 680 chipset.

Previously Rumored to be Redmi Pad 2 Is Now the Redmi Pad SE

According to Notebook Check, the first sightings of what was previously thought as Xiaomi's very own Redmi Pad 2 have recently been seen online. Revealed by XiaomiuiKimovil recently shared what appear to be the official images of the Redmi Pad SE.

Notebook Check reported that aside from the Snapdragon chipset, the previously unknown tablet will also feature an 11-inch display with LCD matrix and up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Redmi Pad SE to Come With a Snapdragon Instead of a Helio G99

Redmi Pad SE reportedly has a slower processor than the previous generation Redmi Pad. It has been downgraded from Helio G99 to Snapdragon 680.

The Helio G99 reportedly has a 25% performance advantage over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 in the benchmarks of Notebook Check.

As seen in the renders, Redmi Pad SE will also be a tablet with thick display bezels, a flat design, and rounded corners. Apart from these, the unreleased tablet will have the same features as Redmi Pad.

Thus, Xiaomi has positioned the Redmi Pad SE as a cheaper alternative to the Redmi Pad, which makes sense. With this downgrade, Xiaomi seemed to focus on something else rather than its performance.

Previous Leak Showed the Redmi Pad SE Comes with Different Specs

Kimovil's leak has also confirmed that the Redmi Pad SE will have four speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The tablet will also come with a single 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. It will reportedly feature a Xiaomi CIVI 2-inspired camera.

The tablet will also have an 11-inch 1200×1920 90Hz LCD panel and run on Android 13-based MIUI 14 out of the box. MIUI Global builds are reportedly fully prepared and expected to be launched alongside the Xiaomi 13T series.

According to Xiaomiui, the most recent internal MIUI build is the MIUI-V14.0.1.0.TMUMIXM and V14.0.1.0.TMUEUXM. Last February, Xiaomi announced that six of its devices will no longer receive updates.

These are the Redmi K40 Pro/+/Xiaomi 11X Pro/Xiaomi 11i (haydn), the Redmi K40/Xiaomi 11X/POCO F3 (alioth), the Redmi K40 Gaming/POCO F3 GT (ares), the Redmi Note 10 Pro/POCO X3 GT (chopin), the Xiaomi 10S (thyme) and the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G (renoir).

If rumors are to be believed, the company is expected to announce the release of the upcoming Redmi Pad SE in China on September 1. It will reportedly be uncovered with the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro flagship smartphones.

According to rumors, the Redmi Pad SE will be available in three colors: purple, green, and dark grey. The affordable tablet will also be available on the global market. However, this may arrive later in the year than its Chinese counterpart. Other than that, there is no additional information.
