Pokemon fanart is often mistaken as the legitimate art style of the Pokemon in the franchise. Some are good while others need improvement. Regardless, it's always interesting to see a fresh design of our beloved Pokemon in a new form.
Recently, a Reddit artist has created an alternative evolution for the male Salandit. As we know, the male Salandit does not evolve and its female counterpart evolves into Salazzle at level 33.
The creator gets the inspiration from a sea bandit, giving the new form a new typing, as well.
Salandit's Alternate Evolution Looks Like Pirate
Most of us might be wondering why male Salandit does not evolve even if Game Freak has a chance to give him a well-deserved transformation.
For Salandit fans who only see the little lizard grow into a bi-pedal Salazzle, you might think that The Pokemon Company is just giving him the cold shoulder.
While it's disappointing to know that we need to wait for the next-gen game just to see his possible evo, a Reddit artist imagined how the male-exclusive Salandit will look like if he evolves.
As spotted by Gamerant, JJonnie illustrated a nicely-looking Salacrew, a sea bandit-inspired first-stage evolution of the forgotten Salandit.
Judging from its design, Salacrew is wearing a bandana that is prominent for every aquatic bandit. To give it a pirate-ish touch, he mixed it up with a Water typing.
Instead of Poison/Fire which we saw on Salazzle, he decided to make it a counter to the female salamander.

How Male Salandit Evolves into Salacrew
Just like other Pokemon with strange evolution such as Inkay, Ursaring, Huisian Qwilfish, Stantler, Eevee, and more, the Pokemon artist has made Salandit's evolution an unforgettable metamorphosis.
The creator said that the male Salandit will only evolve into Salacrew if he's on a cruise ship.
To make things more exciting, he added Funny Drinks, a new move exclusive to the sea bandit Pokemon. This move will confuse both Salacrew and his target with a "fizzy" juice. However, their next attack is guaranteed to land 1.5x damage and a crit to the target.
