Nintendo Switch has received a new system update with the release of version 16.1.0 on Aug. 21. This is just a minor update so many fans did not bat an eye. Some of them expect to see more improvements outside the stability of the console.

Nintendo has rolled out a new firmware update for Switch with version 16.1.0.

According to Comic Book, the recent Switch firmware update is only focused on enhancing the user's experience by rolling out general system stability improvements.

Nintendo fans would like to see a bigger set of changes for the console's system yet they only saw the most expected change every single update.

For the entire year, the patch notes that Nintendo was releasing were just tackling the same stability improvement.

There was a time in February that the update was not solely about stability. When the Switch version 16.0.0 update was dropped, the users' nicknames were replaced with "???" which can be remedied when you go to the profile settings.

How to Download Nintendo Switch Update

Nintendo Everything writes that you can go to the system settings to download the latest software update for Switch.

From here, you can go to the "System" tab" so you can later select the "System update" option. This might take a few minutes to download, but since the 16.1.0 update is just minor, it shouldn't take too long.

For some users, the update will automatically download. You will be prompted to install it on your Switch console.

Dataminer Reveals 'Quite Big' Update Changes For V.16.1.0

Popular dataminer from X, "OatmealDone" has posted about the Nintendo Switch 16.1.0 firmware update. According to the tipster, he did know the specifics of the updated components, but the list of bad words was updated.

Here's the full tweet from the data miner.

Redditors Are Disappointed About the Update

As expected, Switch users are complaining that Nintendo has done another round of compatibility update that is not needed by the console.

On Reddit, one user said that it's always the same thing that Nintendo releases every patch. Another person agreed that they only wasted 30 seconds just to download the firmware update on Switch.

In another post, another commenter wrote an ironic statement regarding the Ver. 16.1.0 patch notes.

"For the sake of variety, we actually made the system a little less stable this time," the comment reads.

Some Redditors brought up that Nintendo is not yet planning to bring Switch 2 or Switch Pro this year. They expected it to be backward-compatible with the current console so they could play their old games and transfer their saved files to the new ones.

Speaking of Nintendo Switch 2, Tech Times reported last week that this rumored console could be the company's most expensive gaming machine.

A reliable industry insider unveiled that Switch 2 could allegedly reach $399 which is $100 more expensive than the 2017 Switch version.
