Honda on Thursday announced pivotal agreements with EVgo and Electrify America, providing Honda and Acura EV customers access to many of the largest charging networks in North America.

This development follows the earlier revelation that Honda will adopt the NACS charging standard, facilitating access to Tesla's Supercharger network for Honda and Acura EVs.

CHIBA, JAPAN - JANUARY 17: About 3,000 Honda cars wait to be exported to North America at a port January 17, 2003 in Chiba, Japan. The strength of the Japanese yen against the U.S. dollar has adversely affected the export-dependent stock of Honda.

Honda High-Powered Charging Network

By combining forces with six other major automakers in a joint venture, Honda is poised to establish a prominent high-powered charging network, ensuring that US Honda and Acura EV customers will have widespread access to public American DC fast chargers by 2024.

The projected number of DC charge points is anticipated to grow to nearly 100,000 by 2030. Jay Joseph, the Vice President of Sustainability & Business Development at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., expressed the company's vision, stating, "Honda aims to provide our customers with easy access to the most fast-charging options of any automaker."

"With access to a broad range of fast-charging networks: Tesla's Supercharger network; EVgo; Electrify America; and roaming partner networks, Honda and Acura EV drivers will enjoy stress-free, convenient charging away from home," he added.

The agreements with EVgo and Electrify America, both leading public fast charging networks for EVs, will afford Honda and Acura EV owners streamlined access to thousands of fast chargers across the US.

Through the HondaLink and Acura EV smartphone apps, users can seamlessly locate available stations, process payments, redeem credits, and access other features at EVgo and Electrify America stations and those of their roaming partners.

Upon purchasing or leasing a new Honda or Acura EV, customers have the option to choose from three comprehensive charging packages seamlessly integrated into the MSRP.

These packages are tailored to suit diverse lifestyles, encompassing public charging credits, necessary charging equipment, and installation credits. Additionally, the optional packages feature charging credits with EVgo and its network partners, further enhancing convenience for EV owners.

Moreover, inaugural Honda and Acura EV owners will enjoy a complimentary 60kWh of public charging provided by Electrify America, a benefit seamlessly integrated into all available charging packages.
