Mercedes-Maybach, Space Perspective Introduce Spaceship Neptune

The voyage to the spacecraft is made possible through the utilization of Mercedes-Maybach's electric vehicles. Defining sustainable luxury in this visionary venture, the companies introduce Spaceship Neptune, a spacecraft hailed as the most sustainable, accessible, and secure mode of space travel on or above our planet.

Interesting Engineering reported that the Spaceship Neptune is an amalgamation of the SpaceBalloon, Reserve Descent System, and Neptune Capsule. This distinctive approach sets it apart as a trailblazing example of sustainable, luxurious space travel.

Unlike traditional spacecraft, where the crewed compartment separates from one flight system to another mid-flight, Spaceship Neptune's capsule remains securely tethered to the SpaceBalloon throughout the entire journey, ensuring a seamlessly safe and gentle flight experience.

The SpaceBalloon achieves its voyage to space without using environmentally harmful engines. Instead, it relies on renewable hydrogen for its propulsion, setting it apart as the only carbon-neutral spacecraft in the world. This exceptional characteristic makes it suitable for accommodating travelers with a wide range of health conditions.

In contrast to traditional rocket launches that involve rapid takeoffs, the SpaceBalloon offers a gradual ascent, ascending at a leisurely 12 miles per hour. This design ensures the experience is accessible to individuals who meet the medical prerequisites for commercial airline travel.

The balloon technology has a proven track record, having served on numerous missions with NASA and government agencies for many years, transporting valuable research equipment and sensitive instruments.

To enhance safety measures, the spacecraft is outfitted with robust parachutes designed to guarantee a secure landing in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Remarkably, these parachutes are acclaimed by the company for their impeccable track record of a 100 percent success rate.

Spaceship Neptune to Accommodate 8 Passengers

The Mercedes-Maybach's press release revealed that the spacecraft's luxurious interior can comfortably accommodate up to eight passengers, providing them with opulent seating arrangements that afford breathtaking panoramic views of the surroundings.

In addition, passengers can stay connected during their journey thanks to onboard Wi-Fi, allowing them to share captivating photos and update their loved ones on Earth about their unique space adventures.

The spacecraft is also equipped to facilitate scientific missions, providing a platform for ongoing space travel research. Onboard passengers will have access to a selection of aromatic plants such as lavender, basil, and rosemary, which can be used to create delightful beverages.

The interior is thoughtfully designed with spacious surroundings that allow all passengers to stand, move around, and socialize while savoring the awe-inspiring Earth views.

Spaceship Neptune offers the flexibility of launching from either marine-based or land-based sites. For marine-based operations, the company employs the MS Voyager, specially designed to ensure the safe and secure recovery of the spacecraft from the sea.

Autoweek reported that an environmentally conscious approach is evident as the MS Voyager is being retrofitted to utilize low-carbon biofuel, aligning with Space Perspective's sustainability commitment. The vessel will commence marine operations during test flights set to resume in 2023.
