A new drop from Instagram is now centering on improvements for content creation via the app with the latest tools for the Reels, offering easier access and improved features to help. These new tools center on creating better memes, AI stickers, filters, and more, with the company also adding improvements to Stories that aim to deliver an overall creative upgrade.

This is amidst the massive backlash on Meta regarding its AI tools present on its apps, especially with its almost limitless potential that is hurtful or offensive for some.

In a new blog post by Instagram, the company dropped additional and improved content creation tools for the platform's Reels and other features, offering enhancements to their services. The latest additions center on new features for content creators and users alike, allowing an easier experience to deliver enhancements to the media that can be made on the app.

First off, Instagram highlighted the new redo and undo buttons that will help users go back on an edit in only a click. Moreover, it also adds improvements to its TikTok-like text-to-speech feature.

Meta also adds Replays to get a "deeper insight" into the performance of their content, as well as a new retention chart.

Memes, AI Stickers, Filters, and More Updated

According to 9to5 Mac, Meta focused on adding new features for Instagram's Reels, Stories, Carousels, feeds, and more instead of other pressing needs of the platform, highlighting a dedicated iPad app.

This drop allows users to bring improved memes that will allow users to add clips with audio to their Reels via the new media clip hub, joining the likes of additional photo filters, also available for carousels.

Instagram also announced that users may create new stickers using their photos, offering users to create these custom image clippings for their new content. This centers on the generative AI model of Meta which it introduced last September, similar to what Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram DMs also received earlier.

Instagram and Meta's Backlash

Meta recently faced significant backlash after releasing its latest take on generative AI, a new technology that it last introduced via the recent Meta Connect event, especially with its capabilities. Several users have taken it to social media and brought this feature to attention, with Meta's generative AI sticker creator creating "unsafe" media that brings explicit or disturbing content.

Earlier this month, users on WhatsApp also discovered that Meta's generative AI sticker creator makes controversial content, surrounding the entire ordeal about the Israel and Hamas conflict. According to users, WhatsApp's AI feature creates stickers that feature Palestinian children with guns, and what made it controversial is that it does not create the same output for Israel.

Meta's AI is indeed offering a massive range of features and possibilities for creators, but it still saw significant complaints from the public regarding its capabilities, and in some cases, going to the extreme. Still, amidst its recent lawsuit regarding teen safety, the latest of what Instagram has to offer centers on new content creation tools, with its generative AI also taking the stage.
