The anticipated and previously revealed new health features for Siri on the Apple Watch are now live, expanding more of the capabilities of the AI assistant to bring more information to users via their wearable device. Its latest offer centers on the "Siri + Health" which Apple introduced back in its September 2023 'Wonderlust' event which also debuted the latest Apple Watch models and the iPhone 15 series.

Apple's release announced the arrival of the new health features meant for Siri to bring to users under the watchOS 10.2, iOS 17.2, and iPadOS 17.2, for the applicable devices connecting to the Apple Watch. This feature will enable Siri to complete on-device requests, with Apple ensuring that their Health app data will never leave their devices when processing the information.

The Siri + Health feature will allow the AI-powered voice assistant to answer requests from users about more than 20 Health app data which are stored on the Apple Watch, iPhone, or iPad.

For example, users may ask Siri about their available metrics like "Siri, What's my step count?" or "What's my blood pressure yesterday?"

Additionally, users may log their Health updates through the voice assistant.

The Wonderlust event debuted Siri + Health to the world alongside the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2, and this is because these two device lineups are the only ones who can access the feature in the latest feature drop.

According to CNET's interview with Apple executives, the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Ultra 2 are the only devices to access this because of the S9 chip which centers on processing Siri requests locally, not via the cloud.

The Apple Watch and Siri for Health

For a long time now, the Apple Watch evolved from being a fitness and workout wearable to being a device used for health tracking, offering significant features for users including a heart rate monitor, blood oxygen measurements, temperature sensors, and more. Because of this, it centered on various health features which help in monitoring health, including birth control.

The Apple Watch may be advanced in today's age, but not the same can be said for Siri, Apple's AI assistant, who since the arrival of the likes of ChatGPT, saw significant questioning from the public. There are claims that Apple is already working on upgrading Siri to level with current AI chatbots, but it also went alongside the news regarding Cupertino's own AI model.

Still, Apple has other plans for Siri, especially for what it has to offer now, mostly centering on assisting users that use the latest versions of the Apple operating systems available. That being said, Apple Watch's version of the AI recently received its upgrade, Siri + Health, exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2, offering health information via the voice assistant.
