Expected to launch around March 2024, the new Huawei P70 series is rumored to be going bigger this time thanks to a much-needed camera upgrade that fans have been waiting for a long time.

In the world of mobile photography, the norm is celebrating devices with larger sensors, particularly for enhanced low-light photography. However, Huawei seems poised to redefine the game.

According to GSM Arena, the upcoming Huawei P70 line might feature a jaw-dropping 1-inch sensor for its ultra-wide camera.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo spills the beans, indicating that Genius Electronic Optical will supply the advanced ultra-wide angle camera module for the P70 series.

Furthermore, the rumored ultra-wide camera boasts a distinctive 1G6P lens (one glass, six plastic elements) and an expansive 1-inch type sensor, setting the stage for a camera revolution in the smartphone arena.

Huawei P70's New Sensor Could Bring Increase in Shipments

Should this camera upgrade come to fruition, industry insiders predict a substantial surge in shipments, ranging between 100% to 120% compared to its predecessor, the Huawei P60 series, per Phone Arena.

From P60 to P70 Cameras

Examining Huawei's camera evolution, the P60 series showcased a vertical alignment of three rear cameras.

The primary 48-megapixel camera, with variable aperture and optical image stabilization, was flanked by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 48-megapixel telephoto unit with OIS. This could indicate that the rumored 1-inch sensor for the ultra-wide camera in the P70 series will serve as a huge leap in sensor technology.

What to Expect Next

While the design details of the P70 series remain largely elusive, whispers suggest the possibility of the Kirin 9000s processor making an appearance. T

his processor, jointly announced by SMIC and Huawei, is a 7nm chip supporting 5G connectivity, hinting at a seamless blend of cutting-edge processing power with impressive camera capabilities.
