Swiss Formula One driver Louis Delétraz began an X saga of his missing Apple AirPods, which he left on United Airlines' flight UA956, and now, the world is helping him find it as the thread went viral over the past few days. According to Delétraz, he left his AirPods on his business class seat when he flew from Newark, New Jersey, to Geneva, Switzerland, last Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Since then, Delétraz tracked his AirPods via the Apple Find My feature, which saw various locations. He also believed somebody stole his Bluetooth earphones as they were pinged in a residential area.
F1's Louis Delétraz Lost AirPods and the World is Helping Him
Earlier this week, Prema Orlen's F1 racer, Louis Delétraz, posted via his X account, that he asked United for help about his lost Apple AirPods, which he left behind in the aircraft almost nine days ago. The professional racer claimed that when he tracked the AirPods' whereabouts, it was seen flying daily from Europe to the US, still aboard the United aircraft.
Delétraz seems to be attached to these specific AirPods as for days on end, he provided the X world with updates regarding the lost wireless earphones.
Hey @united, last week (21.02.24) I flew on United UA956 from Newark to Geneva. My lovely AirPods fell under the seat and since then have been flying daily between USA and Europe, with stops in Paris and currently in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

The AirPods of Delétraz went to several parts of the world, claiming that it went to Zurich and Canada last Feb. 28, before pinging a signal where it was in a Chicago residential building last Feb. 29. He believes that an unknown United cabin crew member took it as it went to the Chicago O'Hare airport and flew off to Panama aboard flight UA7173.

Delétraz's AirPods United Saga and Updates
The latest update from Delétraz in this AirPods-United saga claimed that the Apple Bluetooth earphones went back to the same Chicago residential building earlier today, going as far as to regard the person as a "thief."

The F1 racer also claimed that United had already gotten in touch with him and was investigating this entire fiasco to help him find his missing AirPods.
Apple AirPods and Find My
Back in 2017, Apple introduced a way for users to locate their lost or stolen AirPods via the Find My feature, featuring its unique take that could help track where the Bluetooth audio wearable is. This came after a year since Apple introduced the first-generation AirPods in 2016, adding this device to the Find My platform alongside the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and more.
Later on, Apple also added other versions of the AirPods to be trackable using the Find My app, but this means users have to pair them to their devices and under one Apple account. Additionally, the later AirPods feature a 'hack' that allows the owner to find them easily by making sounds, ringing to a specific tone that will help users locate it easily, especially if it is only pinged at home.
Like other Apple devices, the AirPods can be tracked easily as it would be part of the Find My list of devices when paired to the iPhones, iPads, or Macs, automatically adding it here.
In Delétraz's case, his AirPods remained trackable for days on end despite losing it on Feb. 21, updating his social media about its whereabouts, centering on this saga with United's unknown cabin crew, and having the rest of the world help.
