The latest blog post by Adobe talked about a new experimental venture that the company demonstrated, centering on the Project Music GenAI Control which leverages artificial intelligence to create songs and sounds for users.

"With Project Music GenAI Control, generative AI becomes your co-creator. It helps people craft music for their projects, whether they're broadcasters, or podcasters, or anyone else who needs audio that's just the right mood, tone, and length," says Nicholas Bryan, Senior Research Scientist at Adobe Research.

Through the new creative tool, Adobe claims that users only need to input text prompts for the AI to get started, with the music highly customizable and editable after its generation to suit more of the user's preference.

Adobe also touts a simple user interface alongside fine-grained control for editing, featuring controls like tempo, structure, patterns, intensity control, re-mix sections, length adjustments, loops, and more.

Adobe's AI Music Generator is Powered by Firefly

Project Music GenAI Control is powered by Adobe's renowned generative AI platform, Firefly, claiming that all content delivered by its technology features "Content Credentials" which offer more information about the generated media. Bryan further explains that this is like Photoshop but made for the music generation side of things, currently under development by the company.

Adobe and the Firefly AI

Adobe's take on generative AI and its large language model (LLM) is centering on the ethical use of online content, having significant principles and guidelines in its created content for the user. For its AI image generator available on Firefly now, it creates content from works licensed via Adobe Stock, best known as one of the top licensed image sources online.

For many years, Adobe took pride in its creative platforms and suite, centering on the likes of Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, and more. Its generative AI was recently made available to its renowned work apps, with one of the latest features coming to video editing platforms which helps deliver the Firefly for Video feature which creates audio and video content for users.

The software company's take on AI is responsible and is looking to avoid the regulatory issues that other tech companies are facing now, centering on its massive database of licensed media to train its technology. In this new venture, the company is looking to develop music straight from generative AI's powers, centering on this new experimental project which aims to deliver a text-to-music feature via Adobe soon.
