The Fallout live-action series adaptation from Amazon Prime Video has revealed that its main source adaptation is the upcoming development from Bethesda Softworks, Fallout 5, the game that is yet to be released. That being said, the next franchise that the world will see is the Fallout series, as it is expected that the game will still take years before it is delivered by the company.

Soon enough, the world will get to see the upcoming live-action adaptation of the famed franchise, one that would be a must to watch to understand more of the fifth mainline release of the game.

Den of Geek's latest interview with Bethesda's Todd Howard confirms massive speculation behind the two upcoming installations of the Fallout franchise, with Fallout 5 serving as an inspiration for the series adaptation. Bethesda shared massive information with the show creators on what to adopt for the series, but some parts were not allowed to be used.

According to Howard, there came a point where they prevented the Amazon Prime team from using a specific part of the story as they were "going to do that in Fallout 5."

It was also previously believed by the industry that the Fallout series from Graham Wagner would essentially be Fallout 5, but that is not entirely the case says Howard.

Here's What to Expect from Fallout's Next Releases

The showrunners of the Fallout series, Wagner and writer Jonathan Nolan steered the adaptation towards standing on its storyline, but one that would help bridge the gap that would eventually lead to the sequel title. Additionally, the Fallout series will serve as the media for fans to enjoy while waiting for the next game, one that would feature its take rather than an adaptation of Fallout 5's plot.

Bethesda's Fallout Franchise

It has been years since Bethesda released a Fallout mainline franchise game to the world, with the last being Fallout 76, an action role-playing game from 2018, serving as a prequel story for its previous four titles. The last massive update released for this game was in 2021, offering the Locked and Loaded update which brought Season 4 to gamers with new content and experiences.

Since Bethesda was acquired by Microsoft, there were fears that certain titles would no longer make it to the PlayStation, especially as fans and players expect these to still arrive. This includes the likes of Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI, but it was clarified earlier this year that the upcoming sequel to Skyrim will still make its way to the PS5 and further consoles.

Last year, Amazon confirmed the arrival of its live-action adaptation of Fallout, set to be in a series format that will feature the drama, action, and story of its franchise. While it was not clear if it would be an origin story or adopted from a specific title from the game series, it was now made clear by Howard that the series and Fallout 5 share the same universe, one that would be essential for each other, especially for the game's future release.
