Meta updated a feature on WhatsApp that lets users pin a message to their chats, as instead of only having one, users may now do so with multiple messages. In the app's latest version, this WhatsApp feature brings more messages to keep right at the top of the conversation, below the name and menu tabs to keep the most important messages visible at all times.

With this feature, users may also set the timeline for when the pinned message will stay in its place, available in both private and group chat settings.

WhatsApp announced via an X post that it is bringing an update to its pinned messages feature that will now allow users to do it multiple times, for select messages on the app. However, it is not unlimited, as Meta would only allow up to three messages to pin for a specific conversation.

This is available for individual, private chat, or group messages.

Users only need to go to the specific conversation they have on WhatsApp, look for the message, long press it to bring up the options, choose 'Pin' from the menu options, and choose the duration.

The pinned message will stay at the top of the chat whenever the user sets it to, and clicking it will bring the reader to when it was sent for them to read the message or conversation for better context.

Multiple Message Pins Like Meta's Messenger

Meta's Facebook Messenger also has this pinned feature that allows multiple messages to be saved in a specific chat. However, it can pin up to 50 messages for a single conversation, unlike WhatsApp's three.

WhatsApp users may set the duration for how long the pinned message would stay, from 24 hours, 7 days (default), or 30 days maximum. Also, group chats could have admins choose who can pin a message, whether it be all members or only the admin.

WhatsApp and What It Offers

Regular updates are still available on WhatsApp which help deliver improved functionality and get a more meaningful experience when using the Meta instant messaging platform. One of the recent features Meta brought for WhatsApp was the 'View Once' feature that allows a user to send voice messages in chats that would vanish after playing it one time.

The Stories feature on WhatsApp also saw a significant revamp earlier this year, now under the Updates tab that shows a dedicated place for the expiring media. The unseen Stories would be represented by larger thumbnails compared to those that the user already viewed, also showing a preview of it, with a more streamlined viewing experience.

In the EU, WhatsApp is offering a new feature that would allow it to connect with other apps thanks to its cross-platform feature which Meta offered under its DMA compliance, centering on interoperability.

However, for the rest of the world, it gets the new WhatsApp feature that allows multiple pinned messages, but only three at a time.
