A trusted Capcom insider has revealed key details behind the "Resident Evil" remake, particularly as despite the many other games making their way to modern platforms, the original is still missing its remake.
As of writing, Capcom is focused on developing its ninth main installment in the franchise, "Resident Evil Requiem," which will take users back to Raccoon City and explore the plot's origins with a new lead.
Capcom Insider Reveals Why "RE" Remake Is Missing
As far as I know and last I heard, at the moment no. The next mainline remakes coming should be Resident Evil Zero & Code Veronica.

I do think a RE1 RE-Remake will happen eventually, just it's not what's coming in the next few years, & as far as I know not currently in dev. https://t.co/jvjQ1Ea2iq
Capcom insider AestheticGamer recently posted on X and addressed the many questions of fans regarding a potential modern take on the classic "Resident Evil" game, which was released almost 30 years ago.
According to AestheticGamer, Capcom is not yet currently planning any remake for the original game, with the company still focusing on other projects in its roadmap.
However, the insider claimed that he believes that eventually, Capcom will develop the "Resident Evil" remake for fans.
ComicBook Gaming noted that Capcom is now in an awkward position in its remakes as it did not develop the original game's modern remaster, instead, it focused on the sequels of the original game.
Capcom's Modern Remakes Skipped the Original Game
Capcom is not one to keep its games from being remade for modern platforms as evidenced by its previous releases, but there is one notable title that the company skipped in its development.
The company started with a "Resident Evil 2" remake, which marked the return of one of the best games of the franchise. It was then followed by "Resident Evil 3" and "Resident Evil 4," which was released two years ago.
The sequence of remakes is now getting questions from fans as it did focus on an unorthodox development, and many are now expecting the arrival of "Resident Evil 5" instead.
This was also a question fielded to AestheticGamer by a fan in their discussion of the missing "Resident Evil" remake. It has been claimed that "RE 5" is also under consideration but is not yet under development or coming anytime soon.
As of writing, it remains unconfirmed what to expect from Capcom's next remakes, particularly as the company is focusing its work on "Resident Evil Requiem," a game that is set to revisit Raccoon City and its roots.
