Leaker and YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead is back with new information that presents the rumored specifications of the PlayStation 6. The trusted leaker claims the PS6 boasts of speed that is eight times faster than the PS5.
The YouTuber revealed that the PlayStation 6 will utilize the AMD "Orion" APU microprocessor, centering on a 280 monolithic die that is fabricated on a 3nm TSMC node. This specific chipset will feature as much as 10 Zen 6 cores, 30 to 40 gigabytes of GDDR7 RAM, 52 to 54 RDNA 5 compute units (CU), and around 34 to 40 TFLOPs (teraflops) of GPU performance.
According to Tom's Guide's report, with the specs mentioned above and also adding in the FSR4 technology by AMD, the PlayStation 6 could potentially run 4K resolution quality at 120 frames per second, a feat that is significantly better than the PS5 Pro at its max capabilities.
Despite the impressive specs of the next-gen Sony console, the YouTuber noted that it is possible that the rumored Xbox Magnus console could still top it by 25%.
Massive Compute Power, More Impressive Gaming
The leaker pointed out that the PS6 would potentially be 2.5 to 3 times faster in rasterization, and this could deliver more impressive graphics when playing. On the other hand, Moore's Law is Dead also claimed that the next-gen console would feature six to 12 times improved ray tracing.
According to Tom's Guide, the PlayStation 6 is expected to feature the same x86 architecture as the PS4 and PS5, so it is possible that players would see full backward compatibility.
