New York, September 19, 2025 — As generative AI tools continue to flood the startup ecosystem, one company is staking its future on a different approach: memory that doesn't forget. Startups are busy environments in which efficiency is paramount, so an AI partner that can recall critical meetings and relay key information at speed would be a useful addition to any team.
That's where Redwood City–based Tanka comes in, positioning itself as the 'AI co-founder for startups.' Tanka claims that, unlike conventional chatbots limited to short-term context, its EverMemOS memory system can deliver persistent memory across months or even years, capturing, organising, and retrieving key conversations, decisions, and documents so that nothing important is ever forgotten.
To deliver these results, Tanka's memory-native AI engine combines retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs, and state-of-the-art language models.
This capability enables the platform to roll out some pretty nifty functionalities that can help startups accelerate their development. Last week, they launched a Fundraising Agent that can track a founder's interactions across Slack, Gmail, Notion, and other connected tools, gradually building an institutional knowledge base that can be tapped for tasks ranging from pitch deck refinement to investor meeting prep.
The Fundraising Agent also integrates with GRAB Ventures to give founders access to a network of nearly 100 venture capital firms. According to the company, this combination of contextual preparation and direct investor connections could help reduce the months-long fundraising cycle that often stalls early-stage growth.
The company's CEO, Mission Lin, says that raising funds is the single hardest and most time-consuming job for founders right now. Don't just take her word for it: nearly one in four U.S. entrepreneurs cite limited access to funding as their biggest barrier to growth, according to Mercury's 2025 founder survey.
"With the Fundraising Agent, we're giving them [startups] the co-founder they've always wanted: one that never forgets, never sleeps, and is focused on solving their toughest challenges."
The launch comes at a moment when startups are increasingly experimenting with AI 'co-founders' for specific business functions, and Tanka has a strategy in place to support these different needs. They are creating a portfolio of vertical agents, each tailored for a distinct challenge, such as go-to-market planning, hiring, or product development, which will be coming soon via the company's planned Agent Store.
With AI adoption accelerating, Tanka's memory-first approach highlights a broader shift in the industry: tools are moving beyond one-off prompts toward systems that can accumulate knowledge over time, potentially reshaping how startups manage operations, data, and strategy.
