It has been almost seven years since the "Red Dead Redemption 2" was released, but new leaks are now claiming that there are plans for its modern releases coming to the latest gen consoles.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" has only been ported for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S and X, following their original release on previous-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One.
However, "Red Dead Redemption 2" has not yet been released to the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2.
'Red Dead Redemption 2' Leaks Switch 2 Port, Next-Gen Updates
GameRant's latest report claimed that a leaker has shared new information regarding the plans for "Red Dead Redemption 2's" modern releases that would mean upgrades and enhancements to the title. A new leak from insider NateTheHate revealed that there are plans to create a Nintendo Switch 2 port for the sequel title.
It is important to note that two years ago, Rockstar Games made a massive move towards bringing its franchises and titles to the Nintendo Switch platform, including "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition" and the original "Red Dead Redemption."
Players back then were also hoping that Rockstar Games would bring "Red Dead Redemption 2" to follow "RDR1's" release on the Switch platform, considering that they are already old games. However, Rockstar and Nintendo did not deliver the sequel to the original console.
NateTheHate's reply to the question about the Switch 2 port for "Red Dead Redemption 2" also reaffirms the earlier rumor about Rockstar Games working on next-gen updates for the same game but for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S and X.
What to Expect from Rockstar Games' 'RDR2' Update
Currently, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is only available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms apart from its cloud versions and PC handheld copies. This new next-gen upgrade version for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X would mean a significant improvement to every aspect of the game in these respective consoles.
This means that players would not have to suffer from the blurry images, texts, and frames in "Red Dead Redemption 2" when playing it on their latest-gen consoles via backward compatibility.
Getting a next-gen upgrade would mean that players could get the chance to play the sequel at maxed out graphics, including 4K quality and 60fps frame rate. The current version of "Red Dead Redemption 2" on backward compatibility is also maxed out at 30fps.
It is also important to note that these maxed-out qualities could also be applicable for the Nintendo Switch 2, particularly as CD Projekt Red's "Cyberpunk 2077" release on the latest gen hybrid console also claims to bring improvements to the title.
